On the I-864 form, Part 7, Question 26c states 'Enter the net cash value of all stock, bonds, certificates of deposit and any other assets'

I was wondering if this includes the assets in the 401k or Roth [retirement] accounts. Logically speaking this money is invested in stocks, bonds and mutual funds so does this count?

What has everyone else done? Input needed here. :help:

I would list it as an asset, it is not stocks or bonds, but only list the amount you are vested with. List as 401k or IRA whatever else it is. Shows you have some assets and if needed to bolster your numbers it is the amount you have as an asset. Hope this helps

If your income is enough, then you don't need to list anything there. You can simply write "N/A."

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

You need to list assets only if your income falls below 125% poverty line and you are relying on them to make up the difference between income and 125% poverty line. Note I-864EZ form lacks the lines for assets. So if your income is more than enough you can either use I-864EZ, or just place a zero for asset lines on the I-864. This saves you the hassle of providing the additional documentation required to show the assets. http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-864ez.htm

crifever,

If you want to show your 401k or Roth account assets this is the place to do it.

I did not, but your financial situation may be much different from mine.

I wasnt aware that there is a I-864EZ form also. I guess I am going to use that since its much more simpler and my income is sufficient so I dont have to worry about other assets, etc.

Now to my 2nd question. Once the AOS fee bill is paid, the NVC will send me the AOS form. Do they send the regular I-864 or the I-864EZ? Or can I simply down and fill out the EZ and mail it back to them?
