I see from the wiki that for IV packet NVC wants original documents as follows

f. Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary

g. Original/Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

h. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

My question is when they will return original documents to us these are very important original documents.

Canbody show me official link telling they want original document for IV packet.

My question is when they will return original documents to us these are very important original documents.

If you can provide a Certified copy, go to that route instead of original. We planned to send our original marriage certificate but the last minute, we decided to not to and opted for certified copy...If you are worry about not getting your original back, just send certified...

09/19/2011: WIFE'S VISA APPROVED!!! Thank YOU Lord!
09/23/2011: Wife picked up her VISA..
10/24/2011: POE: J.F.K.-NY

08/26/2013: i-751 mailed

08/28/2013: i-751 received per USPS tracking...

08/29/2013: NOA receipt date

10/04/2013: Biometrics appointment

Does your gov't country where you gave birth or married don't provide certified copy? If not, then send the original...When you lost your original copy, where do you get a replacement? Edited by rhenzhen

The original certificates will be returned (not the PCC) at the time of interview, which is the reason why you alos have to submit a copy of the originals submitted with your DS-230.

USA

01/08/13 - Approved and GC is order for production on 1/8/14

09/12/13 - Case transferred to CSC. NOA2 received on 09/18/13

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

08/05/13 - NOA1 (received on 08/10/13)

08/01/13 - Mailed I-751 (received on 8/2/13 - check cashed on 8/5/13)

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)
11/28/11 - Received Green Card (Expires on 10/30/13) - Welcome Letter on 11/17/11
10/30/11 - POE - Houston, TX

Chennai Consulate (40 days)
10/28/11 - Received Visa papers and Passport at VFS
10/25/11 - Interview Cleared Successfully (Spouse was not allowed in)

NVC: (90 days from NOA2 to Consulate)
08/31/11 - Case Completed (Interview 10/25/11) - Received at Chennai on 09/19/11
07/22/11 - NVC Case Number

USCIS: (92 days)

6/21/11 - NOA2 (NOA1 on 3/25/11) - took a month to get to NVC
3/21/11 - I-130 sent to USCIS Lockbox, Chicago.

Police certificate.

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

Delivery from USCIS to NVC (24 days) Jul21: CSC mailed it to NVC

Jul25: "in the NVC bldg"---->Jul26: NVC Case#,IIN# (1 day in-house, 29 days since NOA2)

AOS i-864.....Jul28: bill rcv'd (2 days)& paid ---->Aug01: "paid"/mailed (4 days). Aug3: AOS in the bldg
Aug 11: phone rep "AOS RFE: 23/24a: no blanks" (pdf won't print n/a"). Fedex'd new copy (arrived Aug 12)

Jul26: send DS-3032 ----> Jul29: DS-3032 accepted (3 days)

DIVORCE: final May 2015 - never whould have married without dating in-person for at least a year.

It is a very good idea to make copy of everything you send to NVC. You can always get original marriage certificate and birth certificate from local govt office in your country easily.

USCIS: (90 days)

3/23/11 - Fedex to Chicago

3/31/11 - NOA1 Hard Copy

6/29/11 - NOA2 Email

7/02/11 - NOA2 Hard Copy

NOA2 to NVC (35 days to get Case number)

NVC: (xx days)

8/03/11 - NVC Case Number & IIN

8/03/11 - E-mail address given to NVC

8/03/11 - DS-3032 Email sent to NVC

8/05/11 - DS-3032 generated by E-mail

8/06/11 - AOS/I-864 Fee Bill Received
