Hello,

I am in the process of filling out my I-130 packet for the CR1. I wanted to know if I should fill out the forms with my new married name.

I am planning to take my husbands last name as well as keep my maiden name. So my last name will be hyphenated.

So two questions:

-Should I fill out my application form with my new married name?

-Are there any issues with using my last name in this form?

-I currently dont have any form of identification in my new name, only my marriage certificate

FYI - I am planning on traveling back to the Bahamas for a few weeks to have my name changed in my passport. Currently

in the US on a B1/B2 visa.

4/02/12 --- IV packet sent +

Your marriage certificate is enough to change your name on the petition. Put maiden name in "other names used."

Thanks Harpa for your reply. I was worried that I would have to make a special trip to the Bahamas just to have my passport changed so I have something with my new name. If the marriage certificate is enough then that will be great.
