Wanting to file early, giving yourself lots of times for possible RFE's, processing delays, extra security checks and general hiccups IN NO WAY constitutes an 'hey I'm selfish, let's screw everyone else over' attitude.

If you were using the USCIS or VJ timelines to try to guesstimate when your visa would be approved, up to about 2 weeks ago people would have been advising the OP NOT to plan a wedding in August 2007, saying instead that some people have been waiting 8 months and more to get to the NOA2 stage.

Aside from your negative and uncalled for comments, I think you may be the one who is being intransigent. There are several threads here on VJ from couples who have set a wedding date and not left enough time to get approved before the wedding. Added to that, the service centers are notoriously unpredictable when it comes to processing submissions. Some are quick, some are painfully long. Why is that? Who knows? In any event, it behoves the petitioner and beneficiary to make the choice of submission date that ensures that they are approved in time to fit with their planning. They have done that admirably in my opinion. They have reached NOA2 stage, which they would have done irrespective of when they applied. Now they need to time things so that they can set up their wedding day for their overseas visitors. Logistically this is no small task. And, who knows, they might have 500 people going to their wedding, so advance planning is needed. Keep in mind that, while their interview date is on hold, the consulate people aren't exactly using any time on the processing, so it isn't costing anybody else anything to have the OP pursue a delay in the interview date.

As for wanting to be with your loved one ASAP. That is true in every case on VJ, but there are many personalities in this world. Some of them are planners, as seems to be the case with the OP. Yes, they want to be together, but there are a lot of things that have to fall into place before it can happen when you are dealing with an overseas move. Perhaps you are the impulsive sort? Either way, it is their life to plan as they wish. There really is no need for their "ASAP" to be the the same as yours.

As they say in my part of the world, "Wind yer neck in".

Wow, Satori, take a good stiff drink and relax a bit.

It's not all that uncommon for people who have been together a long time in a real relationship to want to plan an actual wedding. We're used to being apart and treat it just as a process going on in the background.

And filing in June and leaving a year to plan is extremely sensible, especially given the delays we've seen recently. The OP is under no obligation to rush planning his/her wedding in a futile attempt to keep your panties from getting knotted. Nor is it bad for someone to wait till they're financially secure to move to the U.S.

Anyhow. To the OP: I know people on this board have had to move interview dates due to work obligations in the past, so one thing to do might be to check with your consulate and see if it would be possible to move (say) a December interview to January. Probably depends on the consulate & their timetable, but it's probably worth a shot.

Regardless, remember that you have six months to use the visa and 90 days once entering to marry. While no one wants to get married near the end of the 90 days, 6-7 months should give you plenty of wiggle room. You could also just do a quick civil ceremony and plan the religious celebration/massive party for June.

well he does not have to leave the country as soon as he gets the visa. Why not wait 5 months after receiving the visa then you will have an additional 3 months to marry.

That's exactly what my fiance and I are planning to do. I am hoping that he will get his interview date sometime in November. Then, I plan to bring him over around April (the 5 month mark), and then marry him 2 months later. I'm doing that mainly for planning purposes, and to give him a chance to save up some money for rings, and other things that he may need...after all, he will be leaving EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY behind, and I'm sure there'll be a lot of loose ends with people etc that he will want to tie up.
