I know this is going to sound weird, but we got approved today for our NOA2 and it's actually going faster than we would like. We're getting married next August, and we were hoping to have his parent's come over in March or April for a visit (to meet the family, see the wedding space, etc). At this rate we will be approved by then and once he's in the country, we all know he's got 90 days to marry me...Our fear is we will get approved too soon and then he won't be able to come over in March for the visit with his parents...My question is, does anyone know how much time we have between reveiving the NOA2 and turning in the next round of paperwork? We're hoping to turn our paperwork in slowly and kind of slow it up a bit. Hope I'm making sense...

In case your process moves on too fast you can reschedule your interview. Either way he has 6 months to enter the USA after the visa is issued.

Once the visa is granted, your fiance will have 6 months to enter the USA, then a further 3 months for the 2 of you to get married.

So, to give yourselves enough leeway, maybe what you need to do is request an interview date at the consulate in, say, April next year. That will ensure that, when he comes over with his parents, he won't already have the K-1 visa printed in his passport.

He can control the date of the interview by not returning his packet 3 documents to the consulate until perhaps early in 2007. When he does return the docs, he can include a note to request an April interview. Note that the I-129F petition has a validity of 4 months, so it will expire around the midle of January. Once he receives his packet 3, I would suggest that he writes to the consulate, explains the situation, and requests an extension on the 4 month validity. The consulate has the authority to grant this. Alternatively, return the packet 3 docs at the beginning of January and request the extension at that time.

Best of luck,

Congrats!! and I know it's not your fault but do you realize how sick to my stomach I feel(and I'm sure others) reading your post???

Everyday day gets worse I swear. Now Aug NOA1's are even being approved? They had my petition over 2 months before you even got engaged? 5 months before your NOA1!! I was hoping to have my fiance here by x-mas but that's about impossible now. I guess 10 months isn't long enough to wait? <--sarcasm

I don't want to hear how CSC is finally clearing things up and fixing their mess!!!

They're as screwed up as ever!! How can they even THINK about processing and approving your petition when they still have so many others from 6 MONTHS ago???

I can't even comprehend their stupidity anymore. It's beyond De de de!!! See Carlos Mencia for that!!!

Again I'm not mad at you, but please don't complain how it doesn't fit your schedule! Give me a friggin break

Gonna try again.

OK first of all - don't expect any sympathy on this site. Just joking!!

I think from when the embassy sends you packet 3 you have 4 months to reply. BUT DONT TRUST ME ON THAT. Check out your embassy website.

You could also stall between Packet 3 and 4 and interview.

And then once your visa is issued you have 6 months to enter the US.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!! I must say that it was hard reading that especially when there are those of us here wating for a response...and it's harder for me because I'm pregnant..just praying that we will have the same speediness. Anyways, Yes I think your best bet is to just scheduele your interview for later...however...why? I think that with all of the changes going on politically in the world, it would behoove you to try and just get this thing over with and bring your love to you. You just never know what changes could go on, and if they could add more delays. I say better early than late..but it's up to you because it's true that the presence of the inlaws is important. Can you have two ceremonies...one simple for just the signing of the documents and then one big one for when the inlaws come??

Hornet....I know how upset you are, but as I read the OP's post, I don't think she's complaining. She probably just didn't expect that their papers would be approved that fast. You also have to consider that the OP's fiance is from England and our fiance/fiancee are from the Philippines.

To the OP, congratulations!!! As everybody have said, you can have your interview schedule on a later date.:dance::dance:

As everyone said, once your you granted visa, you have 6 months to enter the county, plus the 90 days to get married, you have 9 months total to play with. If it still seem to be not enough, you could contact local office and you can have your interview schedule on a later date.

Congrats!

Oh my goodness!!!! Just have him come right away! Isn't that what you want? To be together? Otherwise, you should 'pass on' your approval to someone who really wants it. Someone who has been waiting forever for their fiance to be here and be together! Sorry, had to say it!

But... here's and idea. Just have a civil wedding when he gets here and then have your big fancy wedding when you have it already planned. Then... you'll be together, and you will be within the law, and you can have your big wedding later. Everyone wins.

and... you won't make the rest of us upset...

And please don't take offence... most of this is said 'tongue in cheek'

Congratulations to you both. As Hornet said, it is not your fault, but for those of us having to wait for such a very long time, we see it as a blessing for you and a curse for us. Anyway, God Bless and I pray everything works out for you. (F)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Wow! Didn't mean to upset everyone...thought this forum was for asking questions and sharing knowledge...etc. First off, I am not complaining at all...was just trying to figure out a timeline to do it all, legally. As everyone in this situation knows, it is difficult to plan a wedding and try and have some sense of 'normalcy' in a relationship like this, and all we're trying to do is be together. As for just marrying him right away, we're also trying to be smart about it and we know that if he stays in England until June of next year, we'll be better off for starting a life here together, as he will have more money saved...before he gets over here and becomes unemployed indefinitely.

For those of you that answered my questions without giving me grief, thank you, I appreciate it.
