So we just got a text and an email stating that we are getting an RFE for our AOS paperwork. I'm not sure why, and I'm not going to stress about that until I get their letters in the mail.

My question is... has anyone here received an RFE for this? If so, what was it for? I'm curious as to the things they would be asking is all. :)

I randomly decided to check our status on the uscis website today and there it was, RFE. I have no clue what ours could be for either! Keep me posted as to what yours was.. he got everything else just fine, AP and EAD!

Yep 1st RFE was wanting my hubbies 1040's so sent that in as we had sent in w2 and 1099 but they wanted the full tax return . 2nd RFE was they lost my medical wanted me to have Syphilis test and TB again. Not happening lucky I was able to find my test results in my x ray envelope and got Sydney to email copy of my medical to me sent that in and was approved a few weeks later. PAIN in the ASSSSS

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

The two "normal" things are either something wrong with the I-864, or something wrong with the medical.

I got an RFE for a "lost" medical too.. Luckily I found a CS who charged less than $200 and accepted my health insurance. I also got an appointment the same day I got the letter in the mail so I was able to send it off two days later and got approved 3 weeks later.. fun times!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

I included my W2 and entire tax return for 2010 in there. That might be the issue, as I wasn't working before 2010. (And started working in September.)

The medical should have been okay. Went tot he civil surgeon and he did the paperwork for it. We kept all the vaccination records from Sydney, and gave those to the civil surgeon when he did the paperwork for us.

Did you send a letter from your employer to show you have same job?

8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package

I got a RFE for my husband's and mine previous divorce decrees. Isn't that a little odd after everything is said and done - in terms of getting our K1 visa and getting married??

We recently got an RFE for AOS it was about recently TAX,salary staytment,letter from Eployer etc.

I have a feeling the RFE will be for the Affidavit of Support paperwork. I only started working at this job in September, so it may look like I don't make enough. (I do, but didn't work all of 2010, so my tax return says I made significantly less than poverty level.)

No mail yet for it though. I would like it... then I can get them what they need and send it back! :P

same here for me...got an RFE Aug 1st, and the letter on Friday and it was for the I-864, they wanted a letter of employment ( I thought that was optional, oh well). We overnighted the response and today my case was updated online that the RFE was received and under review...

Don't freak out yet lol My heart sank too when I got the text that said I was getting an RFE, but then it happens to a lot of people. Dont stress, it'll work out just the same :star: Hope this reassures you somewhat, I know how stressful this whole thing can be on us all! :bonk:

ours is insane.. we were thinking it was for the medical, which is what it seems like is typical for a lot of people, and we were right. Nut they are also asking for 2 more pages of proof! They want wedding announcements, letters from us stating our 3 favorite characteristics of each other, letters from parents and siblings, more pay stubs, the list goes on. Some of the things they are asking for would have been impossible to get in the first lace, such as his driver's license and pay stubs! We had a freak out about it on Monday but will be getting to more hours of work this weekend. We also spoke with a lawyer who said we probably got stuck with an 'anti-immigration immigration' lawyer. It's all very frustrating because now I am sending in things I sent in with the original I129f application!

ours is insane.. we were thinking it was for the medical, which is what it seems like is typical for a lot of people, and we were right. Nut they are also asking for 2 more pages of proof! What on earth??!! :blink: I am so sorry to hear you guys have to go through that...

I could see that happening for people adjusting from another time of Visa within the US but for folks who got a K1? How odd.

That's why we are so annoyed. We did everything that they asked, and now they want more. He got his work permit and AP fine, obviously got the k1 approved just fine, and suddenly we are being questioned for every little detail.

Oh, and he got a job and starts Monday! This whole process is absurd
