Hi Daisy! I just filed my AOS and sent it last July 30. So it's my first week of waiting period. And yes, you need to send one photocopy of your Birth Certificate as one of the Initial Evidences along with your I-485 Application. I suggest to photocopy the birth certificate you got so you can keep the copy with you incase you need it for some references. And also, while filing your AOS, I suggest to get an NSO copy of your BC in Philippines and let your family send it to you. I heard that during the interview you will be asking the original copy of such important documents. Hope this help you and a lot of members here will help you also in preparing your application. God bless.

Photocopy is fine but if you get an interview, they might ask to see original (you are supposed to bring originals of all documents you send in the packet).
