I am a USC, my daughter was born here in Canada 2 years ago. We are heading back to the States soon(ish) and I need to file a CRBA at our nearest consulate in Vancouver. Apparently, an appoinment is required for this. When I attempt to book an appointment on their website, it's shows no available appointments through August and no bookings are being accepted for September yet.

Does anyone know when new appointment slots become available? I tride phoning for more information, but only get automated replies.

Have you tried emailing them? I hear they respond much better to emails.

I finally got a reply this morning.. Not helpful at all though:

Some slots for August were released and have been booked. Further slots for August will be released in due course. There are no slots allocated for the rest of the year yet. You need to monitor the website and make your appointment when a slot becomes available.

That seems kind of ridiculous for CRBA filing.. they expect people that need to file CRBA to sit on their computer and refresh the page over and over in case they happen to ever open an interview appointment? Not what I would expect from Vancouver US embassy, Montreal US embassy yes but not Vancouver..

Well, I sent another email today explaining that I am not trying to circumvent the online appt. system, I just need to know WHEN new appointments generally become available as I don't have the time to sit around and "montior" the web site as they suggested in their first reply.

Looks like our house is selling much quicker than I thought and the new owners would like to be in by Nov. 1st, so my daughter and I will be heading back to the States then.

They have an option on the appt system that says something to the effect "Check this box if you require immediate service due to travel plans withing the next 15 days." I checked the box, just to see, and still the same, not a single day open for booking an appt.

This is getting very frustrating.... *sigh*
