It is really a function of t, where t is time of flight. The smaller t is, the better chance of occurring a fatality. t is mainly a function of angle of inclination, and distance to target.

Time of flight for a projectile going up, up, waaaaaaaay waaaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up there and then all the way back down almost guarantees it will reach terminal velocity (and no more!) on the fall back to earth. This can happen at less than a 90 degree angle.

Please substantiate this claim. Any firing angle less than the perpendicular by definition will struggle against G (in case you didn't know what it stood for- the force of Gravity, sometimes abbreviated in the atmosphere by a small letter 'g'), certainly... but it will also have residual kinetic energy from the gun that fired it.

You can calculate all you want. For starters, why don't you calculate how long it would take a 9mm bullet fired at 89 degrees to fall back to earth. While you're at it, why not post the energy as well.

Do a little research on air resistance and the effects of friction on a bullet in flight. Also, since you brought up parabola, look that one up too and see if you can find a scale mockup of how a bullet flies.
