j-1 Administrative processing

Hi,

I am a 22 Egyptian years student that got accepted for an internship at a big software company , so i have applied for a j-1 visa at the Cairo embassy . the interview went well with no problems (don't know if this is important but he asked me how i was born in Jordan !) , at the end he says it is ok but we will need to do some administrative processing that is going to take from one week to 2 months.

till now more than 9 weeks passed and they are still undergoing that administrate processing !!!.

i have several questions

1- is there any thing i could do ?

2- i have been sending them alot of emails in the last 2 weeks but i always get the same template response .. is sending alot of emails might be the reason for the long AP ? the internship was 12 weeks but already 3 weeks has passed from the internship which made me very frustrated.

3- what is exactly DOS and how it could help me ?

4-any advice will be really helpful.

Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up AP and no one can say for certain when it will end. Sending a lot of emails is not the reason for AP. It could be a myriad of reasons - i.e. you could have a common name and that makes background checks a little more challenging.

thanks for your fast reply, i have read about people calling DOS (department of state) i know it might not help but if they could give me any other info rather than the embassy template it will be very useful as already 1 month passed from my internship and the company needs to take a decision whether to continue the internship or cancel it.

any other advice will be appreciated too.

I have been under administrative processing for J-1 Visa for 108 days now. I am a medical doctor who was going to start residency training at hospital in US. My rotation has already started since 1st of July so am late now by almost 40 days.

FYI, no one can help u in AP. I tried every possible way for nothing. I called the embassy 100 times and DOS 10000 times, but only got the same response "ur application is still Under AP, we will contact u once it concludes". so DOS will never EVER give u any kind of useful info. They hired people to answer the phone and give u the same exact response every time. I would like to work the same btw, it is an easy way of making money

so u can do nothing except for waiting.. I am also still waiting, and I might lose my job for that. They waited for me 40 days, but I don't think they might wait for more.

So we have nothing except praying for Allah. w inshallah we will get it.

i might also lose the internship by the end of this week.. they have waited a month and i don't think they will wait another week...

apparently there is nothing to do except waiting ..

inshallah we get it in the coming few days
