Hello VJ,

I am such an idiot. We forgot to include a copy of my wife's green card in our application.

I was totally focused on the evidence that I completely overlooked the first step!!!

Forgive my ignorance but I am freaking out right now and need your help.

Should I:

A: Wait for an RFE or NOA from USCIS

or

B: Send them a copy separately to the CA Service Center? What else should I include so that it gets put in the same file as the rest of the application?

Anybody else forget to submit that?

Sincerely.

We originally forgot and sent it in later. And after that, we sent even more evidence. We received one letter stating they had received the additional information. So I don't know if they combined the two or ??? USCIS isn't known for consistency, dontchyaknow.

Did you include anything with the copy of the green card? Like a letter saying "Sorry we forgot" with your names, address, dob, etc?

Thanks for sharing.

Since I just sent the package 2 days ago I have not received a case number yet. Should I wait for a case number or send it right away?

Wait for RFE. You have no idea where the case is and its likely your mail will get lost or thrown out.

I'd wait for the first NOA, then you can also include a copy of the NOA. Since you're at the beginning of a long wait, I really don't think it hurts to send it now. If you get an RFE later, you get one later. But if you don't, you've saved yourself some time and worry.

Just wait for the RFE.

You can try to send it to them before an RFE, But, I guarantee they will send the green card copy right back to you with a notice to wait for the reviewing officer to review the petition and wait for an RFE after his/her review.

Wait until NOA-1 then you know that they have your package, then you can send in the copies of Green Card, ensure that you write on the front of the envelope, additional evidence for I-751 Application, Name and Alien Registration number. it should hopefully join up with your package then.

While I agree that it should be made clear it's additional evidence for I-751, I certainly wouldn't put either my name OR my Alien Reg number on the outside. You simply never know who is going to view that envelope in addition to USCIS.
