Hi,

I am starting a new job the day of my fiance's interview in London. The day of his interview!

For the I-134 and sponsor paperwork I have a letter from my soon-to-be old employer, pay stubs, etc. Starting the new job the day of his interview...I wont have any pay stubs or letter etc from my new employer.

So what should he say if the interviewer asks what do I do and where do I work? Should he say the old job or new job?

Tell the truth. With ;pride, he should say that you are starting a new job today so it's a great day for both of you! It would be good if he can present a letter from your new employer stating your salary in the new role, or maybe a copy of your signed contract with start date and salary?

Agree with this wholeheartedly. :) Never lie to USCIS, you build a case for misrepresentation and it generally comes back to bite you somewhere down the line. :)

We were in exactly the same situation! I managed to get a copy of her new contract to take with me just in case, and I was going to tell them the truth, but luckily London don't ask many questions so you'll probably find it will be fine. All they asked me was what she does for a living, so I told them her job title but mentioned nothing about who she worked for. They were completely fine with this and no other questions were asked about her job. I answered the question truthfully, but just didn't offer more information than what was required.

You'll probably find they won't dig too deep, the London interview is very straight forward. And even if they do ask, people change jobs, I'm sure it won't be a problem.

This is a rather interesting question for me, and I don't know if you have any answer, because obviously it is a different consulate. I am a teacher and I just got laid off in June, just at the beginning of summer, so we don't normally get paid during the summer, and I will be starting to be a teacher online this fall for the same state. Right now my petition is at the consulate in Casablanca, and I was worried about this fact that I was laid off, but do you think I might be able to provide the same sort of thing? I will have a contract, but it will only state I get paid per student, not an annual salary. I emailed the consulate to delay our case, because I was in between teacher jobs, but in fact I will start again at the beginning of this new school year.

I just had my interview (and got approved!!) in London this week.

You will be fine.

They asked me "Where does your fiance work?"

I said "He works in Atlanta for a marketing company called ..... "

They move on very fast... it's almost like a very short pleasant conversation where you get to gush about your relationship. =)

Tell your fiance to just tell the truth.

Others are right though, you should try your utmost to get a letter from your employer showing your new salary and that you are in a permanent position.

They allow you to speak as much as you like so she/he will have plenty of time to explain the situation.

The only thing i would avoid is going to much in to detail. Just state the fact and if they need more info they will ask.

hope it helps.

The interview is the easiest part by far! I was in and out in 2 hours and the actual interview time was only 10 minutes total. Just a lot of waiting around before hand.

Good luck
