Problem with Receipt Number !!

Hello to All,

I and my wife are in process of AOS her status. We mailed AOS and EAD paperwork last month and finally today we received I-797 C (notice of action) for both applications.

Now I tried to register her for Case Status Service on USCIS website and when I tried to add her receipt number,this is what it said to me: " Attempting to add a case that does not exist. Check the app receipt number". I tried both receipt numbers and tried more than once and it still is telling me that something is wrong.

The receipt number for my wife starts with MSC ,and this is what I got from USCIS website : " It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC)".

Is there something wrong with her receipt number or what is the issue here.

Sometimes it can take a while to get your case in the system. I know last month there was a problem with the system and nothing was being updated... that's all I know lol.

Your case was transfered to CSC right? but you can view it when they update or touched it. Did you register to CSC website or u been using same and old account?

My case was transfered to Vermont Service Center, (Maybe you still remember me you replied with my post) but since it was transfered they didnt touch it. It's been 18 days now. So, Im wondering if they already received it our not.

How can you view it throught CSC?

Yeah you just continue to use the same old website once you have been transferred. I know I got something in the mail stating that it had been transferred, and then an email stating they recived it. Maybe they just havent gotten to yours yet? Give it a few more days, and if nothing, call the info line and see what they say, though it will probably just be "If nothing happens in 90 days blah blah blah..."

Those are just examples... it said the same thing when I went to put in my case number. It took two weeks for mine to get registered. Just keep trying and it will eventually work.

Give more time for your receipt number to be added to their systems. it takes 2-3 weeks for me to check online after i got my NOA. the MSC means your file was assigned to Missouri Service Center. You will enter your rceipt number as ---> MSCxxxxxxxxxx ( dont type the dash {-} ).

Question: Did chicago gave you a 2 NOA's ( 1 for AOS & 1 for EAD )... Did they assigned different receipt number for your AOS & EAD??? just asking.... bcos until now i still can't check my EAD receipt number on their website, when i tried typing my receipt number it still says error. If you could see my timeline below, i got some feedbacks already online for my AOS but no feedback yet for my EAD bcos of i cannot check it online yet.

Hello, there's nothing wrong to your receipt starting MSC coz' that's what my receipt number started, too. After receiving your I-797C (notice of action) in less than a month you will receive your appointment for biographic and then after a month you will receive again your appointment for interview of your AOS. In checking you status online edit the sign (-) of each number.

Of course I got a letter and email that my case was transfered. But I havent receive any notice from Vermont. What about you did u received a letter from California that they received it already?

My friend told me that she was waited for 2 months until she recieved a letter since her case was transfered but that notice is a welcome notice..lucky her.

All I got was a notice in the mail stating that they were transferring my case to CSC, I found out they recieved it by checking my status on the USCIS website

Don't worry about the Work Permit. I have my interview appointment on Wednesday the 20th, and despite this, I haven't been abled to check my I-765 online. So although you don't find it, they still working!!!!

Hello again and I want to thank everybody for help and for words of support and wisdom. Chicago SC ,mailed me 2 NOA's ,one for AOS and one for EAD and they assigned 2 different receipt numbers.

Now MSC ,means that our case is assigned to Missouri Service Center ,is this good or bad news ???

Everyone gets MSC when filing for AOS. I'm not exactly sure, so dont quote me on this, but I believe once it's processed at MSC, it gets transferred to your district office. It doesnt mean your case was assigned to Missouri, as in you wont be going to MSC for your interview,
