As per my experience and interview letter (they didn't mention the Local PCC, I sent in the list of documents - just the Passport PCC and Foreign PCC), we just need the lastest Local PCC (from where the foreign spouse is) and take it to the Passport Office, where he/she got his/her passport and apply for Passport Police Clearance. NVC is looking for this PCC along with any foreign PCC (if one stayed for an year in a foreign country after attaining 16 years of age).

I applied for my father I-130 and case now in NVC in AOS stage waiting for DS-3032 accepted so I can send IV package to get interview in Mumbai Consulate.

We got local Police Clearance Certificate from Mehsana. Yesterday we applied in Mithakali PSK for PCC from passport office using NOA2 letter (not checklist or interview letter). They have took all information and created Police Verification and status show that when police verification complete then collect PCC from RPO(Regional Passport office).

My question:

1>RPO has not taken original passport so my understanding that after police verification when we go they will stamp in passport and give 2 copy of PCC paper? Correct

2> How long it takes to get Police verification to police station. I called police officer who do police verification for area we assigned for police station he mention that it goes to SP office then come to him and take around 25 days. Anyone is waiting for Police verification from Mehsana area ?

3> As my understand that NVC do not need police certificate from Local police(Mehsana) and Regional passport office. Those require to carry during interview in Mumbai consulate? correct ?

HI..

I am confused a lot..

Can anyone please help... whether Police clearance certificate and Passport clearance certificate both are required or any one of them will work out?

In case if we are only having police clearance certificate so will it create any problem at NVC .i.e will we get any RFE for not having passport clearance certificate?

My wife's passport is not even 6 months older, so passport clearance certificate is compulsory or only police clearance certificate will do?

Hoping for a positive reply soon..

Thanks in advance..

hi there,

i KNOW ITS A RESPONSE TO THIS POST AFTER A LONG TIME :blush: .Iam in the same dilemma as you now... i have been instructed to get passport clrnce and police clrnce... unfortunately noone seems to know anytin abt passport clrnce.

I have applied fr my Police clrnce at Passport seva kendra bangalore..but when i asked ppl ther abt PASSPORT CLRNCE all kept tellin me PCC means only police clrnce and not passport clrnce :blink:

KINDLY HELP. WHAT DID U DO?

DID u only get a police clrnce and was tht enuf FOR THE nvc and the interview?

vj terminology to know

NOA = notice of action :P

ISO = immigration service officer

NBC = (same as MSC)national benefits center

RFE = request for evidence

As far as I know and after going back and forth with my lawyer, NVC requires only PCC and have never heard about Passport clearance certificate. Yeah after getting new passport you go through passport verification certificate but that is not needed at NVC or consulate. I will ask around and let you know.
