Navy K - is right when you get a interview letter it will have a list attached of what you have submitted out of which what was copy and what was original.

You can take Passport clearance with you for the interview or submit it couple days in advance to VFS and they will put it with your case so when you go for interview CO will have your passport clearance too.

Thanks fenil and Harsh_77 for your advice.

One thing that I am still not sure about is, Should I "email" or / "post a letter" to NVC telling them that we would produce PCC during in person interview at Bombay, INDIA or I can just ignore sending any updates to NVC knowing my NVC Stage has been complete already.

Also, does anyone of you know what is required to obtain PCC from Passport Office from Ahmedabad Office. I do not have Interview letter in hand yet, but I recieved an email from NVC asking for PCC from Passport Office - is this good enough to get PCC from Ahmedabad Passport Office.

Sorry for being too specific, but I am little helpless here.wacko.gif

If your case in completed with NVC there is no need to send them anything anymore. Even if you have recived an RFE after you have confirmed with the operator your case is completed you do not need to send them anything.

When you get the actual interview letter via e-mail there will be a checklist on what they will need and the Passport Clearance cert is what will be needed. If they closed the case without you submitting this they are expecting you to provide/show this at the time of the interview.

In terms of obtaining the passport police clearance in AMD, You need the following. A form of identification, an application for the Passport Clearance Cert (which can be filled out on site), the passport, interview letter and a copy of the petitioners passport (U.S. Citizen).

You will not get the PCC the same day...it will take about 5-7 days for them to process it. You will get it sent to your residence via courier.

Perfect.., Thanks Dave !!

I saw .. You've got 10th Nov - your interview date. Mine prob. would be a week to 10 days apart from yours, provided timelines in Mumbai match with NVC case complete date.

I really hope we get in first 2 weeks of Nov.

Good luck for further processing...

Your welcome!

The next few month there are a lot of holidays (American and Indian) Mumbai is REALLY backed up. Expect a late interview not an early one like they usually are. I don't want to get your hopes up and then get really mad/sad when the outcome is later than you thought.

According to www.immigrantvisas.state.gov, we are supposed to send all required original civil documents along with DS230. So do we send them all to NVC and carry photocopies to the interview?

I went to the police station today to inquire about the PCC. They asked me to get an offer letter along with the usual passport copies, ration card, photos etc. What should I give them as an offer letter? Can I just give them print outs of the NVC web page where all the required civil documents are mentioned? I was thinking that I will also submit a copy of the letter we got from NVC. How did you guys go about it?

Tell them it is for immigration for US consulate - you do not need the offer letter.

If you are in Mumbai you have to go to CID HQs to get your PCC - local polie station would not issue you the PCC.

Here is what I did, I had sent my original with my DS230, but before sending the original I made a couple photocopies of each and got them attested.

Just in case if the original got lost I would have a certfied copy.

If you send the original, you can carry the copies with you during interview but they don't ask for it.

Just the copies of I-130, DS-230 & I-864 packets will do. I don't think that attested copies will do any good, as those are not certiied copies as per NVC's definition.

Of course I am not sure how NVC/ Consulates handle the situations in the event of documents getting lost in transit between NVC and Consulate. Somebody with experience only can let us know.
