Do you have the police clearance certificate and a seal in your passport. If so you need to submit the police clearance certificate and a copy of the seal in your passport. No need to submit passport. Just a copy of that is enough. But i guess Mumbai people no need to submit PCC now they can directly bring that during Interview.

is this true that Mumbai consulate we can submit PCC during interview and we do not need it during DS 230 submission ?

Depends on the place that issued your passport.

Did you have to submit just the PCC from Passport Office or have to submit additional PCCs from the Local Police!

Hey guys,

After talking to 4 different operators at NVC and other applicants from india, what i been told is that you can send the DS-230 form without the PCC from passport office and local police. NVC will accept the form provinding that the PCC will be submitted at the time of interview. This exception is only for applicants assigned Mumbai Consulate. I am sending mine without the PCC. I will keep you guys updated on my case status. thanks

They refused to give the first time but she went to a different window at the passport office the second time and the lady accepted the PCC request. I suggest that you submit your DS-230 with a letter stating that you will produce the PCC fromPassport office at the time of interview. NVC accepts such requests and expects you to produce the PCC at interview. This way you can save time.

Even if you don’t mention anything about submitting the PCC during interview, you will still get an interview call.

You will have an opportunity to submit any additional documents that you would like to submit to VFS or you can bring them to interview.

Worst case is they would give you a 221g saying these documents are missing and once you submit them they would process your case.

HI..

I am confused a lot..

Can anyone please help... whether Police clearance certificate and Passport clearance certificate both are required or any one of them will work out?

In case if we are only having police clearance certificate so will it create any problem at NVC .i.e will we get any RFE for not having passport clearance certificate?

My wife's passport is not even 6 months older, so passport clearance certificate is compulsory or only police clearance certificate will do?

Hoping for a positive reply soon..

Thanks in advance..

I already clarified to this question in another thread you posted.

Don't send the PCC from Local Police with DS-230, as your foreign spouse will need it to get PCC from the Passport Office. Submit your DS-230 without PCC and you can either send a letter stating that you will produce PCC at interview or follow Harsh_77 advise and include it.

Meanwhile send this Local PCC to your foreign spouse and ask him/ her to get the PCC from the Passport Office.

This way you will save time and also complete your case at NVC.

Hi NavyK, Thanks a lot for your continuous help !!

Unfortunately I did not see your reply until now and sent original PCC from Local Police along with DS-230 packet to NVC already and luckily my case got completed at NVC as well (AVR too is updated to: Case BMB*** is completed ... etc. ).

However, on a weird note, I received an email today from NVC asking to submit PCC from the Passport Office in order for NVC to further process my case.

My wife's interview would be held in Mumbai Consulte ( - because the NVC case number starts with: BMB). As it is mentioned in here, for people scheduled for Mumbai have an option to even submit required PCC documents during their in-person interview. I already submitted Original PCC from Local Police and I have asked my wife to obtain PCC from the Passport Office ASAP. But my confusion is, whether I should also ask her to obtain another PCC from Local police also??

And, also what is recommended - to send an E-mail / or / Mail a letter to NVC to tell them that PCC from passport office would be produced at later stage - during the beneficiary's in-person interview.

Please reply. Thanks in advance.
