Hey all,

Just trying to clear some things up in terms of what evidence to bring for our AOS interview.

Obviously, what we had, I originally sent with our paperwork. This included, power of attorney for my husband on my bank account, pictures of our relationship, and affidavits.

For the interview, I will be bringing these, as well as our wedding album.

However, it worries me after I read other topics on here....

I am not able to be named as a driver on the car because, well... I don't have a license.

I can't be placed on his bank account because his bank doesn't accept anyone without a SSN or GC.

My name is not on our lease due to lack of SSN.

My last name hasn't been changed.... due to lack of said documents.

I was able to add my name to our Comcast bill, so I'll bring that along.

Any other ideas of what I can bring? Will this be an issue?

Thanks, much!

They understand that newlyweds don't have a lot of time to produce evidence. We can't know what will be enough for you, though, because we don't know your case. Bring everything you can. Good luck.

You can ask friends to write and sign a letter that states they've known you and your husband for X amount of time, see you regularly and believe you are a legitimate couple that you are in a loving relationship and live under the same roof.

Other ideas : A letter from the US Spouse's employer stating that you are listed on your spouse's 401K, healthcare, life insurance, emergency contact list.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

Make sure that you bring exact replica copy of everything you sent. They did lose multiple documents from the package. I realized this during interview and luckily brought exact copy.

We have two affidavits from friends and families stating that we're always together, go out to events, etc...

Good idea on the insurance... But I'm still under my mother's. It's cheaper.

We also thought about cell phone bills.. But it's a hefty price to cancel our current plans and switch over to either one...

He's not freaking out at all, thinks we'll be find, of course!, but I just want it to be "perfect," I guess...

Thanks for the replies!

Really?! That sucks... they probably said it wasn't their "fault", eh?

I made two copies of the documents I sent. Just in case ;)

They didn't say anything. They just said: "Do you have this document? Or this document? We don't have it here" I did not argue since I had it. I just provided it and that was it...

We took our wedding album, evidence of joint insurance, and letters addressed to both of us. I was able to add him to my bank account and to my gym membership, so I took those as well. THey really didn't want to see much. The interviewer glanced at the bank account info. and my health insurance cards. Mostly he was interested in the pictures. Take as much as you can and explain that due to no SS number you couldn't be added on anything else. Good luck! :)

Use what you can, medical or other evidence from spouse's employment indicating you are married etc. Affidavit letter from friends and neighbors who you spend time with.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I took a lot of documents with us and the only thing he was interested in was the photos. But not wedding photos. I had about 10 photos of my wife with my dog, on a trip to the Statue of Liberty, a trip down to Washington D.C, at a party with friends. Things like that. They want to know this is a bona fide marriage and doing things together "as a family" will do more for you than a phone bill.

We are in the same boat as you. We applied for my wife's ssn a week or so after marriage, but since the application was based on the i-94 and since that has expired, we received a letter stating that her ssn cannot be issued. When she went to the office with the paperwork to reapply, there they said that it wasn't issued because as soon as we file for aos, the ssn application filed before was no longer valid, and that we had to reapply once her ead is issued. We kept the letter as proof that her ssn was denied, and that I cannot add my spouse on anything of mine. I am going to wait till she has a ssn before I put her on my health, life, and bank account.

If you haven't yet, try to apply for ssn. If you already have, and they said no, then keep the letter for your record.

Cheers.
