Hi VJ friends! We are almost complete with my adjustment of status package we still have a couple of things pending and one of those things is that I read on the guide for AOS for K1 that needed to translate my birth certificate. And if so where can I translate it? I can do it by myself? IS there any authorized translator they request? Please help :help:

2011/08/15 - Sent AOS Packet

2011/08/29 - Emails with receipt numbers

2011/09/01 - Hard Copy NOA (AOS, EAD & AP)

2011/09/06 - Appointment Biometrics Letter (appointment for 8/29)

You can and cannot do it yourself for AOS. I did the translation for my fiancee from Russian to English and then had my Mom, sign as the traslator. Granted that my mothers last name is different then mine.

I would just do it myself and then have a Spanish speaking person (Friend, family member with another last name...) signoff on it. It does not have to be noterized.

If you are fluent, you can translate it and sign off on it yourself.

03 Aug 2013 - Received Biometrics letter

19 Sep 2013 - Approved

24 Sep 2013 - Received NOA2

09 Oct 2013 - Received GC

Yes, you can definitely do it yourself, Dayana! Just make sure it's translated properly. Another option(which I don't think you have right now), is to get an international version of your birth certificate, which is written in your native language and maybe French and English(it's issued in your home country). But it's totally fine to translate it yourself and save lots of time. :thumbs:

Anyone fluent in both languages can do the translation. The translation must include a certification by the translator. The translation does not need to be notarized.

Just one more piping in to tell you that you can do it yourself. My husband is fluent in Spanish and English and translated his own birth certificate, and it was fine. HOLD IT!! i just stumbled on this!! my GF can translate her own papers.. or another friend.. she is fluent in spanish and english.. and just sign this statement.. http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations

ok.. does anybody have an example of what Translation format should look like??

do you just handwrite under original text on copy of original.. or re do it in a msword file?!
