That's exactly how I'm approaching David's AOS... I've already started the paperwork. Worked well for me for the petition process!

Great minds... :P

OP... you'll be fine. Just take it step by step, one form at a time.

Hi Sisu,

I can appreciate how you are feelilng - it does sound overwhelming when you first look at it. One thing I did that helped me is that I got the required forms - downloaded them from the FOrms page at www.uscis.gov - then made copies of the forms and instruction sheets. These were my draft forms and I could fill them out and make as many mistakes as I wanted before I got it just right. The other thing I did was take a highlighter pen and then I highlighted everything it said I needed to include as an attachment. I then made a separate list, printing out the name and number of each form then listing the things I had highlighted for that form and needed to get. That gave me a checklist. When I got the attachment I needed I would put a checkmark against it and then I knew I had it. I also made 4 file folders. One I labeled AOS and I put the good form, my working draft form, the list of attachments I needed for that form and then, as I got the attachments, into that file. I repeated the same steps for the Employment Authorization form, the Advance Parole form and for the Affidavit of Support form. Breaking it all down into smaller steps like this made it much easier for me to see what I needed to do and what I needed to get.

You will be fine. Just take it one step at a time, don't worry about making mistakes because you are using your practise copy forms first, and soon you will see everything falling nicely into place. Good luck.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

It looks hard and nerve-wrecking... but its not. especially when there is a whole community of people here that have been through (and are current going through) the same process as you. there is a wealth of information, advice, and tips on every aspect of AOS. alot of us felt really anxious at the start, but as long as you are organized and give them everything they ask for, you'll be just fine. my method was pretty close to kathryn's. nearly drove my husband nuts with all my lists, post-its, and folders. :D

just approach it calmly and positively. you'll be done and on your way before you know it!

best of luck,
