Case still hanging in NVC after more than a week of getting case#

Has anyone received a case# from NVC and still not sent to consulate for more than a week? Is NVC getting worse or what? I see that the average processing time after receiving from USCIS is a week. I got my case# from NVC for more a week ago and the case is still not sent. Just trying to find out if someone else is in the same boat and not worry about it.

Based on our detailed timeline it seems possible that you could have a Case number assigned before NVC even knows about your application. It really seems like NVC Mail Processing unit is separated from the rest of NVC, because this is darn confusing:

27 Jun 2011 - Date on NOA2. "Sending your application to NVC. Wait 30 days before contacting them"

19 Jul 2011 - Call NVC - No case number yet

19 Jul 2011 - email sent inquiry #1 to NVCResearch attach NOA2

22 Jul 2011 - email reply from NVC - "NVC will contact USCIS on your behalf"

25 Jul 2011 - email from NVC - "USCIS said it is en-route. Will notify appropriate agents in 6-8 weeks"

25 Jul 2011 - email sent - followup questions to inquiry #1

26 Jul 2011 - Call NVC - No case Number yet.

27 Jul 2011 - NVC Receive case

28 Jul 2011 - NVC Send Case to Consulate

29 Jul 2011 - Call NVC - got cate number and NVC in/out dates.

02 Aug 2011 - email reply from NVC containing case number

03 Aug 2011 - Receive Letter from NVC. Letter is dated 08 Jul 2011 and contains case the case number The postage for this letter was paid at Portsmouth, New Hampshire on 01 Aug 2011

Read the last line for 03 Aug 2011 again. What's up with that? Where did the 08 Jul 2011 date come from??? Well if CSC actually sent the appliation around 27 Jun 2011 then it seems perfectly reasonable that NVC would get and start processing within 2 weeks. With all the NVC contacts documented here, the case number was apparently assigned on 08 Jul 2011 but it didn't show up in NVC's computers until 27 Jul 2011?!?!?! The mailing date the letter itself is just fine. If they finish processing the application on 28 Jul 2011 and send the letter out on 01 Aug 2011 that seems quite reasonable.

Anyway, don't fret about this. It will get to NVC eventually. Based on my gut feeling about how long these sorts of things take, I told my fiancee around mid June after I sent an RFE Reply that it would be about 2 months before she would hear anything from the US Consulate... looks like I was right!

We were the same with the letter from the NVC, the letter is dated weeks before we received the case number by phone and the time we were calling NVC they said they hadn't processed it. Doesn't make sense.
