So I'm cruising the monterrey site, since that is the closest consulate to where my fiance will be once he returns to Mexico, and I find this :

"Immigrant Visas

The United States Consulate General in Monterrey, DOES NOT process V or K visa types. These visas are processed in the United States Consulate in Ciudad Juarez."

What the heck am I suppose to do? Am I going to get an RFE on my application because I put monterrey down as the embassy/consulate he would apply for his visa at?

I sent in my F-129 packet yesterday is there anyway i can send them a correction notice to communicate that I didn't know this? also he practically lives in Tampico, and the drive to Juarez is like going through death valley for an innocent citizen... will the UCIS take this into consideration for where they schedule his interview?

Help, please...

NO they will correct it for you and from what I have seen on here in that forum this is correct Juarez. It's like in Australia they only do visa interviews in Sydney so all other states have to travel to Sydney makes it hard I know.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

No, it will be routed to Juarez without any action needed by you.

USCIS will has nothing to do with scheduling visa interviews, that task is the the State Department's purview. To answer your question, there are no exceptions made as to where the interview takes place.

You will not get an RFE. Our (incompetent) lawyer put Merida for the consulate because he didn't realize we had to go to Ciudad Juarez. It was not a problem at all. There is no way to avoid going to Juarez so the best thing to do is just accept it. We had to travel there from Cancun, so at least your trip will be a little shorter than ours.

The consulate area is not bad, and we did not feel unsafe at any point. We went to the mall, took a walk around the area, and did not go out after the sun set.

Good Luck.

you will have no problem. it states in the application that even though you can put the consulate which is closets to you, ultimately it depends on the types of visas which are being processed. since juarez is the only place that is processing these types of visas, they will automatically go to juarez regardless of which consulate you put on ur application.

i'm guessing you had some problems with your lawyer? i'm in a similar situation. There person i paid to help me with my I-130 did not tell me that i needed to include evidence of my relationship with my husband bc he said all of that would be requested later on in the process. After doing research I know realize that i made a huge mistake! i'm feeling very disappointed bc i'm worried my case will be delayed now...

I did something similar. My fiancée lives near Mexico City. So I thought that would be the where she will have her interview. After doing some research, I was wrong. I worried and stressed over it.

Then I called the National Visa Center. It was okay. They will send it to Juarez. I did not get a RFE. My fiancée’s interview is September 20.

You will be just fine. Do not worry.
