Thanks Sara... Hoping for the visa soon in hand. Real big headache after Interview is over and we need to wait..

goodluck with the AP. Hope you get out if it soon.

I have read here on VJ posting similarly about a AP in Chennai but got out of it in few weeks. so do a search on VJ and read that thread it might help you.

Anyone can go into AP not just one particular country or consulate but it happens in all countries as well. I am also guessing a complete name check on you and your wife. probably they sent your name to US for detailed name check again.

Hi all,

I had my Interview on August 02, 2011 for CR1 immigration visa and they said they approve my visa but we need to go through AP. Did anyone in Chennai had there Interview in May, June, July, August 2011 and was given 221g blue color slip in Chennai and said putting your case into Administrative processing (AP). Please do update if you had been put into AP and later approved also so we can have an idea of how much time they take in Chennai.

Please response people even if it was later approved with visa. So other can get an idea about the approx time in Chennai. Response will be considered deeply and will be thankful for your reply.

Thanks a lot in advance for your reply. Awaiting for response.

I am sorry for you. I pray your AP completes soon. My hubby will have his interview on Sept 29. It would be great if you can share all the questions so that it will be helpful for us and all the VJers who will have their interview in Chennai.

Thank you in advance!

Interview was pretty easy and simple one.

The Indian lady first asked me who is the petitioner, How did i first meet, when was the married, where do I work, where was the marriage conducted, did she come after marriage and then asked for pics and medical report and then said that's it. Then she said wait while we call for fingerprint and final Interview. Then I was called for fingerprints in few minutes and later after sometime final interview.

The CO was very good and she asked me very less question. The question she asked was : how did i first meet, when was the marriage, where was the marriage conducted, when did she get citizenship, where do i live, where does my parents live, where does her parents live, did she come after marriage Then asked my qualifications and said you will get a good job soon. Then said finally your case is clear and I approve your visa but as per the process we need to do AP. She said i will have the passport if you have any plan of travelling abroad or anywhere you can take now. Or else at any point you need the passport you can email and we will send it or else you can wait for your passport with visa. Atlast give me a blue color 221g form.

I had my Immigrant Visa Interview on 25 July 2011. Everything went fine and at the end of the interview the consular officer had taken my passport and handed me a blue slip 221(g) with administrative processing ticked on it. She said my case needs administrative processing. The very next day i got a call from chennai consulate, the lady asked me basic questions like if i have worked somewhere etc. and at the end she said processing is going on my case and when it's completed they will send my passport along with the visa. It really sucks to wait after interview. I am desperately waiting to be with my wife. May God unite us soon.

Administrative Processing Related to US Visa

Visa Application Pending Administrative Processing

For US consulate Chennai (India)

At the time of the interview an applicant who has been refused or pending administrative processing would have received either a pink handout or a blue handout from the Consular officer. If you received a PINK handout please click here. If you received BLUE handouts please read the following paragraph and follow the instructions given therein.

Blue Handout Cases: The Consular Officer would have given the applicant a blue handout seeking additional information or stating that further additional processing would be required. These cases do not fall within the category of cases which are listed on this website. In such cases the American Consulate, Chennai will get in touch with the applicant in due course as and when further action is required from the applicant. Specific instructions will be sent on a case by case basis. If your case falls within this category, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT the Consulate regarding the status of your case.

Pink Handout Cases: If you received a pink handout at the time of your interview, you can check the status of your case below.

The case list below is updated regularly to show the cases that have been processed. A case will have only one of three remarks “Pending process” or “Contact the Consulate” or “Send Passport”.

Was shocked to hear that Chennai is now going in for AP for lots of candidates. My spouse will be going for visa interview next week. Was wondering if this has anything to do with religion/ gender? Any possibility they are targeting muslim males for this AP.

My sister in law got blue slip 221(g) administrative processing and she got her passport in 4 weeks.
