Waiting for Case Completion at NVC

You have to keep in mind it's not up to NVC when they deliver the interview dates. Interview dates are given out as they come available. The only reason they tell you the 2nd week of the month is to keep you from calling everyday. People receive interview dates throughout the month. If anything I would think that NVC assumes that by the 2nd week of the month the consulates would advise them of the open interviews for the following month.

That's not how I understood it.. Looking at Colombia they put out two lists per month.. One comes out around the 15th and another towards the end of the month. The first list is the "a" list and is the preliminary list for the following month. The next "b" list is a revised "a" list with interview changes and last minute additions. Consulates are supposed to send NVC the dates they have open and NVC will then assign interviews.. The consulates can send them in early but the deadline is somewhere in the second week of the month.. So some of them do turn in open schedules way early (there are some consulates that have interviews scheduled out into 2012 already) some do it a bit early - like India and Dominican Republic, and then there are those countries that wait until the deadline which apparently this month include Colombia and Peru.. The NVC gives us (when we call on the phone) the deadline by which all consulates are required to have the October spots available turned in and NVC scheduling complete and the official monthly list created. If the countries turn in available interviews early then we get good news from NVC when we call early :)

Today I had a really nice operator on the phone from NVC - which was nice as they have been really uptight ones all week. I mentioned that several countries had October interviews and he said "Yeah! I have seen a few new ones today but nothing for Colombia."

This is just guessing here but I imagine the first full week with a Friday (which would be tomorrow) is the deadline for Consulates to have available slots turned in for the upcoming month.. The NVC then gets the next full week to fill the schedules and make the finalized lists..

... or is that all wrong?

Woo hoo!!! After all the confusion with the police certificate, one contact with a supervisor and we have CASE COMPLETE. So happy!

Also for those London embassy applicants, I had my medical a couple of days ago and had to have an extra MMR jab. I didn't know before, but apparently we have to have two doses of all the components of the MMR vaccination, which depending on your age, you may not have had automatically. Just to let you all know.

Did you have to pay double for the MMR shot since you needed 2 doses?

My husband goes Monday and we are strapped for cash so just trying to figure out the price. He thinks he has had his vacs but is having a hard time getting the record so I'm assuming he will have all the required ones again.

I had to pay 35 quid extra for the pleasure. There is also the option to pay 50 quid for an extra blood test to check whether you are immune.

The nurse said a lot of people from the UK have this problem and they definitely want to see the records from your doctor as proof. The issue was that I had had separate Measles and Rubella shots when I was younger, but only one Mumps immunization from the MMR I went to my doctor for in March. The doctor should tell you that you need 2 doses of all three components for the vaccination to be complete.

You should definitely be aware that they wont complete your medical unless you can provide medical records of vaccinations as the US embassy are very strict on this.

Hope you get this sorted and good luck for getting you interview soon.

I think thats 3 shots total so I'm guessing thats about 300-350 pounds.

I agree with this. Of course each consulate is slightly different but I think NVC gets a tentative first list of opening, which they start filling out, which makes it look as if they are doing it throughout the month. Then the final list for the following month is received by the end of first week of the month (some countries that have a huge backlog doesn't fall into this) and then those few slots for the following months are filled up and that month schedule is closed. This is the reason why we saw some November interview dates given out (from tentative list) and yet a few October dates will be given out (final list) and will be communicated throught next week.

I came to this conclusion as I had 2 CCs and have been contacting NVC since 8/15 and have been interacting with various operators/ supervisors and also did some research and I think OnMyWayID is right for majority of consulates.

To be honest I don't know whether you can get all the doses of the shots done on one day. However they will give you a print-out of the shots they do, including records from your doctor, to give to the embassy. Sorry not to be of more help. I guess you could ring to ask beforehand so you have an idea before your husband goes.

Hi Folks,

Is anyone with Chennai bound US consulate is still waiting for IR-1/CR-1 interviews? I did speak with NVC operators since my case got closed on August 30th and still no luck. I keep getting the same answer from them, " we will start scheduling by next week for October schedules."

I know Navyk is one of them for Chennai as well. Please update if there are any updates.

Hi Navyk,

I am going to call NVC first thing in the morning to find out about my spouse interview. The best time to call them is between 8-8:30AM for a quick response. There is no need to wait 5 minutes. I hope we should hear from them this week. I am eagerly waiting along with the other folks who are also chennai bound.

Does the AVR at NVC change after the case is complete OR does it changes when an interview date is assigned? Thanks!!

The final step to the AVR is updated when they forward your case to the consulate (when you are assigned a interview date).

I just checked the AVR and the message was changed to state that my case was complete. I have not received the interview date email yet from NVC.
