Can u schedule ur interview in PI? I mean once we get the interview date do u think we can call to try to change it later or earlier the stated?

Yes. I called the 214-571-1600 number that I found in USEM site and the person that I spoke with told me that I can re-schedule to a later date but not earlier than the original appointment date. I think my daughter's interview will be around October so I will call them once I have the appointment letter from NVC to re-schedule it to 2nd week of November.

Navyk: Oh my god, that is so horrible. I am really sorry to hear it. Can I ask how you found out about it?

Jkiminney: YAY! Mid October? I still have my hopes for that, but who knows?

As for whoever is talking about what bureaucratic bullcrap we will have to deal with in *two* years, I just have to say, I don't want to hear it! I have changed countries three times in three years, and dealing with visa, upon visa, and now my husband's, and not to mention the driver's licenses, etc... I am exhausted

Let's pretend that this will be the end of our journey. It's not, but let's just have a little denial for now, I think we deserve it.

I was casually checking AVR hoping for an interview update and the message stated that NVC has issued a check list for AOS. I was shocked and called operator and then a supervisor. Supervisor agreed that they shouldn't have processed the soft copy attached to the email inquiry but said that she will have to put the case to her superior, who may agree or disagree and may also take long time to review. She suggested that I resend I-864 quickly and said that it generally gets processed quickly and hopefully get closed by month-end.

I am planning to call on Monday and request for the supervisor Laila and request that my I-864 may be processed quickly and hope for a October interview. The Lord willing it will happen.

I understand your frustration and everyone is definitely not treated the same. I can't understand why people whose cases were completed more than a week after mine have already received interview dates. I really hope you get your case completed immediately if not sooner. You have been waiting far too long and it just doesn't make any sense.

Yup, That's Correct.

It's only until the embassy/consulates releases the open dates is when NVC assigns them to the pool of waiting filers.

Some are busier than others. As you can see in my case, Chennai has given dates already where it seems Mumbai is releasing them a small amount at a time (I think).

I am still hoping for an October date, I hope we get notification of that this week or it's going to be a very anxious long weekend next week.

I saw the first look of impatience in my wife's eyes this week when I told her on Wed that people were starting to get interview dates for October. She does not fully understand the process but when I have complained (better word: whined) about it in the past she has always said "tranquillo tranquillo". I have said from the beginning that it would probably be October - I was not 100% that was true but I figure there would at least be an actual interview date by then. When there was no interview date set on Friday and I told her "probably next week" she did not do the usual "si si si bien bien" she was asking "Monday? Tuesday?" I think it is finally starting to feel real to her when we changed from talking months to weeks and making actual plans for making the move.

Exciting times! Now I'm looking around my house and wondering how I'll have everything prepared on time heh! Should make the time go fast!

I guess October too when I first took a look at the estimates and timelines. I also notice a change in tone with my wife in terms of this conversation. It's starting to hit home to her that whoa, I am going to be going really soon instead of ehhh, it's a while away still.

It is exciting...it would be even more exciting with a date to countdown to! hahaha!

I haven't been calling NVC or DOS simply because I don't want to be disappointed. I'm tired of hearing the "September is full, maybe October. Wait until the second week of september" speech. I'm hoping to just call and have them tell me when the interview is. My husband is getting impatient, and so am I. If we wait until September and get a beginning of October date, we will only have about two weeks to get everything done (airfare, hotel booking, etc..). This whole process is killing me.

Yes, I talked to the DoS people in Washington about this. Each embassy notifies NVC how many interview slots it has and for what dates. Then NVC doles them out. It's also up to each embassy as to when then communicate this with NVC.

Made the medical appointment and booked the flights! Btw, the medicals aren't cheap and the vaccinations are extra. At this point money is the least of it. Best of luck to all!
