AVR changed to them receiving my checklist response from the false RFE. No sign in failed though so guess I continue to wait.

First of all, congratulations on case completion at the NVC. I was just wondering if anyone of you has ever experienced so much delay with DS-230 review? I mailed AOS on August 3 and it's reviewed and completed. IV package was mailed August 4 and until now it's not yet in their system and I am starting to freak out. I call them everyday, AVR and live operator but they always tells me to wait 20 business days. They emailed me RFE (saying they are waiting for it) for IV on August 14, 10 days after it's mailed out. There is no message about IV RFE on AVR, though. I am looking at some timelines and don't get me wrong, but it's really frustrating to see those who have mailed out their documents later than mine get SIF/CC.

I'm a little surprised it's taking THAT long to process it. I think the norm seems to be 7-10 days for them to review it. With the 20 day time frame they give the unfortunate thing is they really won't do anything until that 20 days has passed. Did you mail it on the 3rd? If so I would be on the phone with them the first thing on the 23rd if you don't hear anything by then.

I know right. The operator I spoke to a while ago said "it could be in the building". Aaarghh...I think I will just send the documents again on Monday. I just want to be done and get it over with

Hi

I guess you are from india , do you have any idea of PCC which is requirement for interview process.

i am bring my wife here, her i824 follow-in to join is approved.

meanwhile we thought we should get the PCC(police clreance certificate from passport office, Chennai. & district police office do you have info on this , how long it will take.

regards

anil

Anil, NVC/ Consulates in India are looking mainly for PCC from Passport Office and Passport Office in some cases are looking for PCC from local police. So you will need a PCC from local police station (any Sub-Inspector can give it - we got in 2 days - you know how to get it quickly by now). Take a copy and original to the Passport Office (Passport offices differ from each other - we got in a day).

If your wife lived abroad after age 16 for more than 1 year, then you need a PCC from abroad.

You can submit DS-230 without the PCC with a letter stating that you will produce those at interview time. That way you can save time and if NVC insists on producing those, you can always submit those a little later, when you get those. But you have a chance of getting interview quickly. All the best.

Hope this helps.

They give the same response all the time. The girl I talked to this morning was very friendly and she came right out and said I HAVE to tell you 20 days to respond but if the AVR is saying they received the checklist it's in the review stage so I should call back Monday. Funny how some people are helpful and others are basically saying suck it lol. I work in customer service and take calls all day and if I was crabby like that I wouldn't have a job!

It could be sitting on the desk of a supervisor, who might have gone on vacation. The Operators won't get know anything about it, till it is entered into the system and they won't allow you to get the supervisor till 20 days. Try asking for a supervisor or ask the operator to escalate it to a supervisor.

Yes, during the review stage the AVR has the latest information than the Operator. Operator doesn't get to know it till it is entered into the system after process. If your AVR say that they got the papaers, it is being processed and you will have good news by Monday/ may be even tonight.
