Does anyone know roughly how long it takes to get the go ahead after the interview. Assuming everything goes smoothly. Just out of interest.

The whole NVC process feels like one of those chess games where you move a piece and then smack the timer.. The NVC stairs at the board for a few days, does a lot of pondering.. a few false reaches before pulling back and staring at the board again.. during that time we have our next move already selected and are rocking back and forth nervously for them to at some point make a move so we can do our next play.. Then... finally... they move a piece and gingerly reach over and tap the timer.. We then instantly grab a piece thrust it forward and slam our timer before their hand is two inches from tapping the timer from their last move... "YOUR TURN!"

Congrats!! you have checkmate! They just need to set the date to concede the game :)

LOVE that chess analogy.

Or... like smashing a tennis ball to someone who insists on high-lobbing it. Only sometimes they lob it so high, even they cannot find it!

Thanks,

Have you heard anything on your IV package? We sent ours at the same time. I called earlier and nothing, same 20 speech.

I think I am about a week behind you as I sent our AOS late.

I have been reading a few things that surprised me on the London Interviews.

They won't schedule a medical without an interview date? News to me

We need to take our police clearance to the medical. I sent my original, would a copy do, you think?

Would be good to keep each other up to date on the London medicals and interviews.

I haven't heard anything...probably tomorrow. John had his medical last wed and we didn't have an interview date. If you DO have an interview date they want you to tell them so they can make sure they get the medical to the embassy by the date needed. You are going to need to request another copy i think if you do it within a certain period of time they will let you get it for 5 pounds. John did say they told him when he called to make the appointment that he needed to have the police cert.

Re: Calling NVC

Normally, I call (as per their suggested times which I usually don't wait for) and then I say all our information as fast as possible, then I ask do you have my packets yet?

They say no, and I say thanks and hang up as fast as possible.

Then I call back and check the AVR.

I am so sick of calling them, I just doing it to make sure I don't get an RFE.

As for:

I'm sending constant mental messages towards New Hampshire "Do the IV Packets for Colombia" If it happens by Friday we will have positive proof I have ESP! Here's Hoping!

I sent my IV and AOS at the same time. They reviewed AOS first and two days later they had my IV complete, about the same time that I got an RFE for my AOS. I just want to be done. My stomach feels like it has butterflies every time I call NVC, I get nervous waiting for another RFE or some good news. I can't wait for this process to be over.

Oh sorry! I'll switch over to beaming "Do the Colombia AOS packets"!

I did call the NVC tonight - I think just out of habit.. That and I have my WAC number memorized, use it lose it! I am guessing that since they just about let all people with a case closed before the 15th have a September interview that we should be good to go (near the front of the line) in October. I'll spot three days for the ones that are good at giving a convincing sob story and get to butt in line so I am going to put my money down for October 7th - though actually I would prefer the 10th - Fly in of Friday the 7th, spend the weekend in Bogota making sure everything is perfect as far as paperwork and some happy reunion time..

I'm crossing my fingers you are good to go by the end of the week!

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Anyone else notice the irony of the SIF? When you are first at NVC and the invoices aren't there yet it is: "curse you SIF!" Then at the end of the process it is: "come on SIF!!!"

It would be nice if NVC's IT person would program an email that says "case complete, we will contact you with your interview date in [6-8 weeks]." You'd think that would reduce the number of calls to the phone bank.
