It would be so nice to ignore everything for a couple of weeks secure in knowledge that a date was forthcoming and nothing I could do would speed the process up further..

Nooooo! PLEASE Keep the updates coming, and keep calling every day. If I didn't call morning and evening, I would never have caught the 2 s-t-u-p-i-d unnecessary RFE's within a few hours of them being issued. NVC wants us to be passive so they can justify big slow b-l-o-a-t-e-d budgets. For both of my RFE's I sent follow-up packets overnight and at NVC next day by 9am. I see from VJ timelines they take about 7-10 days to scan the mail into their computer. The review process seems to take a few hours at most. Maybe I might finish the same time as Dave next week. That is, if they don't tell me - oh, now we think we don't like the font you used on your coverletter... (phhht).

I was hoping to be DONE with everything, b/c all 5 kids started school today. I am absolutely exhasuted. Emotionally drained. Kaput. Having them tell me we have to write in his stinking 16th bday? So wrong. and you know what?! I had to DIG for that info. It's not as though the record came up and the rep siad, "oh, did you know you have an RFE...?" No! I had to ask for speicifics on everything in progress until the rep said (both times) "we have both packets, but we're waiting for the checklist response" (as if I already knew about it). the WHAT??!!

"Case Closed" means we can move on to the hassles of shipping, plane fares, cleaning out a closet for Dad. I REALLY welcome THOSE hassles. :)

For my future reference, do you call and speak to a rep every day or do you just wait for the AVR to change and then speak to a rep. For example, did you find the RFE's by using the AVR? What do you ask them and how do you pry the info out of them? Any useful tips would be greatly appreciated! Hope your cover letter font meets their standards! hahaha Wishing you all the best!!

Praise the Lord for He is good and His mercies endures for ever. I could just talk to an Operator who confirmed that my case is complete. When asked for next step, she said that August interviews are not possible and that NVC is working with Chennai Consulate to schedule a September interview and will communicate by this week-end.

I am super excited

Thanks you all VJers for all the good wishes and prayers. May the Almighty Lord be with you all each step of the way in your visa journey.

Congrats NavyK!! I'm so happy for you and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a September interview!! :)

the AVR has never told me anything I didn't already know from speaking to a rep - in fact, it is 12 - 72 hours behind sometimes for our case.

When they say "how can I help you?"

ME: "I am checking on the status of our case. The AOS arrived there on ...[ etc...] and I want to see if it is reviewd yet."

REP: "you need to give the NVC 20 days to review it."

ME: "oh I know about the 20 days, but th ephone reps always end up giving me timely information that is far more accurate than the automated messages. And every day counts when you want your spouse home." (or something similiar to encourage them to be human)

REP: "I see here ... [then they give pertinent info]..."

once they tell me that, I start the conversation over again with talking about the IV ds-230.

Best case scenarion is: they never have anything to tell you about your packets, and 7-10 calendar days after you send each piece, they simply tell you "it has been reviewed and approved." :)

I wish you all the best,

M.

Thank you so much M! That info really helps. My AVR just changed to the "missing or incomplete information on your financial..." message. I am assuming it is because they received the DS-230 4 or 5 days before the I-864. It said they sent a checklist letter on August 15, 2011 but I have yet to receive an email. Gonna be calling tomorrow! :) Thanks again!!

Don't worry about processing the AOS that much. It was about 12 days from sending the IV packet to getting the CC for me. Looking at your timeline you should get the CC next week. You're almost there! Good luck.

I didn't submit copies either. They have copies from the original package that was sent in March. The only thing they wouldnt have copies of is the police certificate. Nothing states to send an extra copy. You make 2 copies 1 to keep incase something goes missing and you've got it to send and a 2nd to your spouse.

I thought that you sent copies to NVC of any "original" docs you wanted returned to you after the interview? I have no idea if it would cause an RFE - I have not heard of any RFEs from not including copies... I sent copies of the Beneificary Birth certificate, Marriage License, and police certificate.. I plan on bringing certified copies of each to the interview just in case they don't make it (I have read of that happening).

Let us know if you go through without the copies without an RFE...

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

I didn't submit copies either. They have copies from the original package that was sent in March. The only thing they wouldnt have copies of is the police certificate. Nothing states to send an extra copy. You make 2 copies 1 to keep incase something goes missing and you've got it to send and a 2nd to your spouse.

Ok, So i might be OK, I guess i will keep phoning to see if my DS-230 get accepted.

I have copies of everything sitting with me.

Yes they do have copies of everything apart from the police clearance from the Original I-130

I hope it goes through. I can't believe I missed such a clear instruction.

When you go for your interview they give you all originals back. When we had our K1 interview we took all the originals with us to the actual interview and they handed them back to us...meaning birth certificate and divorce decrees.

I hope I don't get any RFE's!

I am really exhausted as well. This quarter has been so emotionally, mentally and physically draining it's not even funny. An accelerated nursing program is no joke...

I just want Kinnari home....
