how would we accomplish the not-paying-duty on my personal belongings? I've found this form and it sort of looks like what I'd want. Would I just fill all of that out and give it to my family to include when they ship my boxes or what?

You don't pay duty on your personal belongings....are you leaving some stuff behind and then having family members bring it later?

I know that. If I can't leave with my fiance, I will need to fly down and I have too many things to bring on the plane. I'm leaving boxes for my family to send via Canada Post after I have moved. I need to know if I leave that form with her or what so she doesn't get asked to pay duty on it.

In the instruction sheet that comes with your passport/visa it says you can ship items of personal use up to 10 yrs after POE. Says to write Used Personal Belongings on your declaration form.

I'm curious about this procedure as well, since I don't have that much stuff and it needs to be mailed.

From what I've read about this in other posts, your family/friends/whatever can ship your stuff to you using your visa number.

You would treat shipping it just as if you had someone else or a mover bringing your belongings over the border.

I would read through this form and it's instructions and perhaps give the border a call to ask where you would put this form if someone ships something to your through the mail.

Would it go in the package or with the declaration form your parents will fill out at the post office with the list of contents? Who knows until you ask.

This will be great info for other people to know.

That's the form I linked in the OP, so I'm glad I'm on the right track. I guess I'll just go ahead and call them in the next little bit to find out the specifics. Thanks everyone.
