I was only able to visit him once. Is that enough to get our petition approved?

Hi,

I'll get right into my question.

To begin briefly, my fiance and I met while he was on a J-1 trainee visa back in December 2008. He stayed for about a year then was forced to return to India when his visa expired (November 2009). After he left, I made plans to see him soon, I even got an Indian tourist visa, but both of us ran into extreme financial hardships. I was unable to find a permanent job and could not earn the money to buy the ticket and take care of my other expenses. At this time, my fiance was also thinking of pursuing further college education in the U.S. but he was not approved for an F-1. It wasn't until over a year later when I was finally able to get my financial situation under control and I went to visit him for 2 months (February- April 2011).

I was planning on visiting him again this coming fall and attaching my flight itinerary to my I-129F petition but I recently got a job offer for a full-time permanent position and will probably not be able to go this soon.

My question is what are the chances that our petition will get approved with me only visiting him once? I really don't want to wait to file our petition especially since I don't even know at this point when I could go to India and visit again.

I'm just hoping that they take our situation into account that we are recent college graduates with not a lot of money. Especially since India is neither a short trip away or an inexpensive one!

I am the petitioner.

Once within the last year is the only requirement. As long as you sent them some pictures of you guys together, it should be enough. I only met my fiancé once and got approved.

You've met within two years, and you spent significant time together in the USA prior to that. I think you have a good chance of approval if you file now, though another visit during the process would be good.

At least you have met in person in 2years. My fiance and I met only once and meeting once was never an issue to the CO when I had my interview last July 31.
