I know O/O that do very well. Some are capable of being O/O and many are not. If one can't make a good living driving eventually then they are at fault.

Right on. It is always cash in versus cash out. You have to look at both sides of the equation. Reminds me of a joke:

When Obama was a young man in college, he decided to try his hand at business. So, he went to the farmers market each day, and bought himself 10 bags of oranges, for five dollars a bag. Then he stood on a street corner, and sold all the bags for five dollars each. At the end of the week, his friend and mentor Ayers came over to visit, and asked how things were going.

"Not so good," he says. "I spend all week selling oranges, and didn't make any money."

After getting all the details, Mr. Ayers ponders the problem for a while, and then comes up with a solution.

"The solution is obvious. You are not selling enough oranges."

Whats the O,O?

Yes they have finally approved Mexican trucks to be able to deliver anywhere in the U.S. and then to be able to get a load and return back to Mexico. Canadian trucks have been allowed to do so also. We are also able to go into Canada and deliver and then go get a load and return. The difference to me is that Mexican trucks are allowed to come here and then go back but we are not. Yes they say we can do so but if I or any trucker does so then the likelihood is that we will be robbed, killed and other stuff. This is a pretty much one way street in favor of Mexican truckers.

Do the Mexican trucks pass all the qualifications to drive on our roads, because in the past they couldn't seeing how they were using old #######.

Also I'm wondering what's going to happen to these trucks when they park at a truck stop.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Talk about low wages become a trucker, what you actually paid per hour is a joke . This will only make it worse

Not if you drive for the Teamsters. :D My cousin and uncle bring down $30+ an hour driving ...one for Dallas - Mavis, and the other one for UPS.

This is my cousin Wayne two weeks ago on his way to Texas to drop off some Kenworths. He drops new tucks off, and then fly's back to Seattle.

Yes. They have to be inspected before driving on our roads just like we have to be.

If that's the case, I don't think there's going to be that many Mexican trucks driving on our roads.

Why would you make that assumption? It would be a fairly hefty revenue stream to be able to be paid U.S. fees and maintain a Mexican cost of living. So why wouldn't they invest in their equipment to be able to compete in the market?

Were talking about Mexico here, not Canada. Ever see Mexican trucks? Ghetto doesn't even begin to explain them. There's a better chance of winning the lottery then the odds of any kind of significant number of Mexican owned and operated trucks passing our inspections.

I'm a teamster and make very good money

Now ask your cosiin and uncle how many teamster jobs are left ??? Not many I can tell you. I blame both the union and deregulation add mex trucks to the mix and the few that R left will also disappear

OOs do well but no where near what they did back years ago. All for free trade but the field must be level

The Teamsters have took a hit in the past decade or two. My cousin and uncle don't have to worry seeing how their at the top of the list, but the Teamsters have been taking pay cuts since Bush took over. In fact my cousin isn't making much more than he did 20 years ago. Up here in Alaska the Teamsters use to be the #1 union, and now they have more peeps on the out of work list then they do working...and that's even in the summer months when it gets busy up here.

As far as the pipe fitters local up here...Iv'e been on the out of work list now for 8 months and counting yet rats from the lower 48 are sucking up our jobs here left and right. It's bad...like way bad.

It's another sign this country is going to h*ll.
