Did most people who found their spouse online actually go LOOKING for an online significant other? Doubt it. My hubby and I (before we fell in love) used to snicker at online couples when we first started chatting. But to go online to find friends, it's kind of sad really.

Uh...Lai and I actually did go online looking for spouses....we met at an online Christian singles site :star:

You never heard of match.com or the other billion dating websites out there? Yes, I'd say it's reasonably safe to say that people finding their SO's online is becoming pretty common, as well as socially accepted.

That was the title of a post I just came across on craigslist. A woman new to the area, looking for new friends. But only wanting them if they are african american.

Now I dont know what to think about this. Since moving to the states I am starting to see more and more of this one sided kind of attitude. If I had made a posting asking for 'White Friends Only!' (which I would'nt) Im sure Id get a lot of abuse. Maybe she will as well, I dont know. It just seems like it would be deemed very racist to post 'white people only', but maybe not as much so because she wants african american friends only. But then I think, well if she does just want african american friends, that is her choice and right. I just find it a little sad.

What are your thoughts?

It shocked me from day one to actually see and experience the level of reverse racism that exists in the US. I think its a deep cultural issue within the black american community. Why is it that certain black americans conveniently use the 'race card' as they see fit??

If only more black americans travelled overseas. They would see how much better they would do if they integrated into the society rather than remain ignorant and naive. Blaming the US, blaming the white person blame blame blame. Taking no civilized responsibility for themselves is not the answer my friends. So many neighbourhoods with over 90% of people being black are trashed, run by gangs and induce crime yet they call white Americans racists because someone who is not black does not want to live under similar conditions. Does this apply to every black American, of course not. Is there a large number of black americans who are apart of reverse racism, of course there is..

Why do I speak up about it? Is it because I am racist, of course not! The truth has to be told from foreigners. From an angle that has not been influenced by Americas history. Americans seem to have their rose colored glasses on and are afraid of touching that issue, even if it is the truth, as it is not PC.. I would love it if everyone lived together but that will never ever happen unless the attitude of large number of traditional black americans changes..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I pray and thank God everyday because my child is growing up in a more cultural diverse environment that hopefully will not carry the same social, economic, and ethnic ignorance (and hate) that the some of the current and many of the past generations have forged within the fibers of their characters (both domestic an abroad). We, humanity, carry so many negative and derogatory views about one another that I wonder how we ever get along. The catalyst for that may be monetarily driven (not in all cases of course). I have read some very disturbing and shocking personal views on VJ, which are indicative of the state of affairs across the globe. People perceive that their views are not tainted because they do not reside within a certain geographical area. However, ignorance and hate has no bounds and touches all boarders.

Cheers!!!

What is reverse racism?

Reverse racism is when someone has claimed for so long that they were targeted and affected by racism only now to do the same thing themselves..

How many white man jokes has one heard on BET (Black Entertainment Television)?? Sure its comedy but what happens if someone white makes jokes about black people..

During the 5 months I have been in the US I have witnessed how the second one rolled or had a disagreement with someone who is black they were told to their face that "your racists... its because I am black". That is plain and simply wrong. See in Australia, where racism is actually illegal, if someone dared say that an Aussie would probably tell them to go ###### themselves.

Getting a long with one another and being seen as equal is a 2-way system. Equal means black, white, asian, etc you are the same. Your are one. This is why I say get rid of the minority description as when one is a minority they will never ever be equal.

Don't buy it. It's either racism, or it isn't. I beleive you are pointing out hypocrisy.

pretty much..

Your idea of dispelling minority descriptions is too simplistic. Only a 'majority' would think it is that easy!

No offense, I'm a white Australia too. I'm not sure where in Australia you are from, but we don't have an peaceful cohension of cultures and races.

yup!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. So it's ok to find a spouse on the internet, but you're a loser if you look for friends the same way? Hmmmm......

Did most people who found their spouse online actually go LOOKING for an online significant other? Doubt it. My hubby and I (before we fell in love) used to snicker at online couples when we first started chatting. ...

Same here about the snickering. So then of course it had to happen to us! But now I don't think it's as strange, since I've done it. If I had to do it over again, I still don't think I'd intentionally look online for someone. It had to happen unintentionally for me.

I may have white skin on the outside, but on the inside I'm Zulu. Can I be her friend?

Maybe you should ask her  I'd like to know what she says!
