Day 6 no sugar... and I am still alive! I weigh in tomorrow and will see if it made any difference. Next week I have my 15 yr old niece with me -- hmm, will be eating out and having fun -- without sugar, but... who knows if other areas will be as good.

I want to try SB (Atkins was too hard on my system) but having trouble limiting the carbs.... :crying:

SB is not really about limiting carbs (like Atkins). You don't have to count carbs at all. You can eat carbs that have a low glycemic index (GI).

In the book he says if you have a choice between white bread and ice cream. Have the ice cream! It's not as fattening. :)

Ice cream, less fattening than white bread? O.k. I make my own bread and it is whole wheat... but still!!! So far so good. I resisted the urge last night and am so proud of myself... this is day 7 and at the end of today I will have gone a full week without sugar!!!:dance:

It has to do with your bodies insulin response to the food. The fat in the iceream actaully slows the response. Causeing less of a response than the white bread.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I eat sugar free jello every night as a snack.

a friend of mine did the Berstein diet, lost a bunch of weight then while on maintenance she fell into a slump. They told her to eat as much sugar free jello as she wanted, it keeps your metabolism going or something like that.

good for you guys! It's easier when you both are doing it together. It's more about choosing the right foods than actually dieting.

I bought some whole wheat wraps at Costco that are loaded with fiber and make a great sandwich. I'm in phase 2.

OK folks let's keep this going!

After one whole week on P1 I have lost 6lbs and my hubby has lost 8lbs!

Our bed is heaving a sigh of relief!

Thank you so much Rich for inspiring me to look into the SB diet. How's it going with you, now that you can have all that good stuff (like red wine!)

Still going good!!! about 25 lbs now. Yes. Drinking the red wine. I still feel funny ordering it in a 'bar' but I noticed others are doing the same.

I found some tortilla wraps with 4 grams carbs per tortilla. Tumaro's, garden vegetable tortilla's.

Another company (LaTortilla) has some with only 3 grams net carbs.

keep it up!!!

Ive shifted about 5lbs, kinda hard to tell exactly cos I got into a bad habit of weighting myself every damn day which is a mistake

Don't miss sugar is the bigest shock..I was a 20 spoons per day person (in coffee), couldn't eat peanut butter unless it was the sugary kind (now even the no-sugar kind tastes almost too sweet) and ate bread at every turn (I do love my bread! lol)

I only want to lose around 15lbs or so (can you say porked too much at Xmas? ) having shot up in a short time from 120lbs to 138lbs..luckily on this plan you can eat untold veggies (I love steamed broccoli - buy a mcrowave steamer and it cooks in 3 - 4mins) and seafood.

And yeah cheers to rch99 cos I never would've tried this even before and I feel really healthy on it

Hubby and I started SB a week ago yesterday. Weigh-in yesterday showed him down 8 lbs and me just a measly 2 lbs. As someone mentioned before, weightloss is so unfair to women!

I went to our library and got the original SB diet book, the cookbook that followed and the 30 min fast meal cookbook, too. With a 3 wk borrow period and a renewal after that, we're good for 6 wks. By then, we'll know if we want to buy the books. If not, no $$$ lost. Libraries rock!

As for the reason behind doing this, a year and a half in the US and 20 lbs packed onto me. Just to be supportive, hubby gained 15 too. LOL

Luck to all of us in the coming weeks!!

I thought I was the only one left!!! Thanks for resurrecting the topic Caviar. Hub and I are starting Phase 2 today and in P1 I lost 7lbs and hubby lost 11lbs. So looking forward to a nice glass of red wine tonight!

On a positive note, I haven't got any cravings whatsoever and haven't felt hungry in the slightest. Thanks again Rch for starting us off on SB.
