About four years ago I saw a TV show where the people were competing to loose weight. One of the nutritionists recommended keeping fat grams to under 20 a day, calories around 1400 or so and exercise. I tried it and in about 90 days I lost 50 pounds.

Awesome!!

I wieghed about 145 when I landed in the US, I'm now up somewhere round the 200 mark. Since I'm only 5'2, I really can't afford to be carrying that much extra weight!! Sadly, I like Wendy's and Oreo's

I'm not fussed to lose weight as such, but I would like to fit back into the clothes I brought with me from the UK. I've had to resort to my husbands jeans and Lane Bryant, which isn't doing a lot for my self-confidence.

Just to make me feel bad and encourage me to take some action, here are my "pre-USA fast-food-diet" and "OMG, how can she live with herself?!" shots

Please, point your fingers and laugh. Make me feel bad. Encourage me to get my ####### down the gym!!

I think I have put on about 40 lbs since moving here because of bad eating habits, I dont eat much but most of what I eat I eat after 7pm or so.... I might grab something to eat in the afternoon but sometimes I forget to eat :whistle: and also limited excerise .....

back in Canada I was a nanny so I got my exercise chasing after kids all day, here I just sit around doing nothing, once I get a car, I can go out and about and get some walking done..... this neighborhood is not the greatest, I would not feel safe walking around here even in broad daylight without my hubby

I have gained 25 pounds since moving here in May. :( Its my own fault eating the wrong foods. We joined the Gym here about 3 weeks ago now. I have so far lost 10 pounds of it. There is too many fast food places in the US  But I also know I have to say NO to them.

Congrats on the weight loss

and can I drink wine??????

(I can do moderation if required.....)

Yes!! Red wine is actually recommended (because of the anti-oxidants). No sweet dessert wines though and no alcohol during the 2 week phase 1 period.

Good job Rich.

Ooo you're creeping me out now! :help::lol:

why is it creeping you out? My name is Rich.

I don't like to cook and I'm a really picky eater. Before I register on their website, is it even something I could live with/do easily?

They promote good carbs and good fats. You can do a google search and find out info about the program. The first 2 weeks are the most limiting though you eat until no longer hungry. Lean meats, many veggies, low-fat cheese etc. no breads, starchy veggies or sugar during those first 2 weeks.

The SB diet has a lot in common with the Zone diet, but SB is more manageable I think.

Awww I'm not going to point fingers lol. Same story here. I really wish I could fit into my clothes again, I'm close to 200 pounds right now as well, put on about 50 pounds since coming here last year. I used to eat at the uni restaurants which always carried a vegetarian alternative so I did eat healthy and all the walking around, going to classes and stuff helped too. Now I just sit on my ####### all day (except at work, I deserve a friggin raise for hauling ### all day there :P) and cook pasta because it's easy and fast. But man, it doesn't help with the weight problem :P

And yes, I had to start shopping at lane bryant for trousers. :crying:

I'd like to find a diet like Southbeach and stuff but most of those aren't quite designed for vegetarians. I wish I could eat fish, that'd help.

The SB diet is a great diet indeed...and I've been on them all! I've found much success with it with the smallest of ease...and I think after a week on the diet, you lose your cravings completely. At least that's what happened to me.

After my accident, I went from 125 lbs (on a 5'6 frame) to well over 200 in less than a year. I'd literally starve myself cos the weight was just piling on by the second it seems. Good thing I was temp in a wheelchair...cos I tried so hard to counteract the steriods that many times I'd keep my calorie consumption to under 500a day & was too weak to even move. Anyways, long story short....I went on the Atkin's diet. I did manage to lose all the weight, unbelievably! But turns out all the excess protein made my liver temporarily messed up. Had to go to an internist & have liver panels done & everything. The dr asks me about my diet, so I tell him...then he says 'get off the diet & come back in a month' and lo and behold, no problems whatsoever.

Now I've actually gained a few back...I was put back on steriods for a bit...and I drank my way into a bigger dress size while in the UK :P .,.....and I used SB to take some of it off. No problems whatsoever...what an easy diet! The limited drink tho sucks, but hey...at least you can have one!

If anyone's struggling with his/her weight, I would highly rec. this diet. In fact, just as everyone here supports each other thru the visa stuff, we could support each other with the diet stuff. I'd be up for that!

Congrats to the OP and keep up the good work!!!
