I am trying to fill out this D230 which is causing me to wig out - are they really requesting EVERY time I have been to the US?? and dates? I have been every month since October AND my father lives there so I have been so many times in the past 20 years... there is no way I can come up with these dates

As a Canadian, you shouldn't be doing the DS-230. You have to do the online DS-260. And the online version only asks for the last 5 visits, so as long as you have those dates, you're golden.

This information I have from others who dealt with the consulate in Montreal.. and also found in this link. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

Consulate reviews have confirmed that if they didn't have the DS230 Parts I and II they were asked to complete it there.

The link information about states in part....

Required Documentation

You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

Two (2) Nonimmigrant Visa Applications, Form DS-156 (prepared in duplicate). NOTE: K-1/K-2 visa applicants should not fill in Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application

One (1) Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application, Form DS-156K

One (1) Application For Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Form DS-230, Part I (You are not required to complete Part II.)

K Visa applicants applying at U.S. Consulate General Montreal and U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez have different application form requirements. Review information on the U.S. Consulate General Montreal or U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez website to learn which forms you must complete.

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions)

Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor

Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)

Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)

Two (2) 2x2 photographs. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements

Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)

Payment of fees, as explained below

As for the question about visits to the USA, I attached a note stating I live in a border City and as such have visited countless times in my life.. I also included the dates of visits over the past few years of any significance. ie.. visits specifically to see my fiance and vacations of a week or more and explained that day trips over the years were common. I was advised by another VJer who also experienced this and has succeeded in getting her visa that this was acceptable to the interviewer.

Good luck!!

Shirley Ann, the OP is an IR-1/CR-1 visa applicant. Most of what you linked doesn't apply. I already answered their question in the first response.

Oops.. sorry about that. It applies to K1, my mistake. It's good info to have but obviously not for this thread. :bonk: Delete it if you can. I think I'll let others be the helpers here.

Haha, it's okay!

Definitely good info for K1 visa applicants, but doesn't apply here. And only moderators can delete, so...
