Hey guys how long did it take for your spouse to get his social security card when he arrived in America??

Did anybody had to take another route to get their spouse social security card because it didn't arrive in time???

when do they get their green card?? are they considered still non us citizen when they get their green card??

I talk to a social security representative today and she said that my husband have to apply for the job, get a letter from the employer then come go to the social security place to apply for a number for work purpose only.. I was like huh???? she said because he is a non citizen he only can get a number for work purposes only and he is not considered a us citizen until he lived in the USA for 5 years.

man this is so confusing

What this you can apply for one at the img office inside the airport???

He is NOT a USC until he takes the naturalization test, passes and has the oath to become a USC. Thats 3 years by marriage not 5 years.

A green card does not make anyone a USC, it is a card that shows you are allowed to live and work in the USA.

If the SSN does not arrive in the mail you go to the SSN office and apply with an application for the SSN. The person you talked to is incorrect.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

@ inky thank for the info, how long should I wait for his social security card to arrive before I go and apply at the social security office??

You didn't respond to my question about applying for it at the IMG office at the airport??? is this true?

Immigration is immigration. SSN office is SSN office.

You apply for SSN at the SSN office.

A few weeks to a month. If nothing arrives apply for the SSN.
