Although the post office delivered my stepson's AOS application 9 days ago (according to their tracking system), I have received no SMS or email from USCIS to indicate that they received the package. I submitted the form to get the SMS/Email confirmation with his application. I also received the post office return receipt some days ago. Should I be concerned? Is there anything I should or can do? We are under a severe time constraint due to my stepson's need to return to his university in Russia to start the fall semester. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

9 days is nothing really. My wife's took 14 which was relatively fast. A lot of cases are taking 30+ days between delivery to USCIS and issuance of the Receipt Notice (NOA1).

The problem for you step-son is, assuming a semester start date similar to those in the U.S., is that the Advance Parole he will need to be able to return generally takes 60 days after issuance of the NOA1. Very likely, he will need to make plans to skip a semester.

Yes I did send the G1145 Form. That is what I am referring to when I said I received no SMS or email notification. I didn't expect the NOA so soon, but it seems that the email/SMS confirmation of receipt is long overdue.

They said it take up to 30 days to receive a N0A1 also did you attach a G1145(notification sheet)to the front of your petition for email or text notification?

The email/text message is sent the same day that the NOA notice of receipt is mailed. It's the same day they process your applications into the system. In the meantime, your packet is sitting in a pile of other packets waiting to be processed in.

It's taking around a month at the moment.
