I will fly to Thailand to attend her visa interview and have the big send off with her family. So I will buy a round-trip ticket for me and a one-way for her. But the tickets are about the same price. Anybody know any tricks on getting best price on a one-way fare? :help:

I used a one-way for Pui back in June. At that time a one-way was about $300 - $500 cheaper then a return flight. I got it from www.delta.com. In the past I have used www.kayak.com and www.bt-store.com. Sometimes it is cheaper to get from the airlines website directly. You can try Thai Airways but I got a feeling they might be more expensive. Good luck with your upcoming interview.

Edit: Try flying back to the US from a Monday - Thursday, sometimes cheaper sometimes the same price.

I fly international all the time, 10 to 15 times a year.

Cheapest tickets a generally on Tuesday and Wednesday and a round trip ticket is almost always much cheaper than a one way.

Domestic forign Airlines sell one way tickets, round trip is just two one ways, same price.

Have never seen a one way cheaper than a round trip, on U.S. Airlines that is.

Round trip to Atlanta to Rio $1400 one way $2700 go figure?

Thanks all. I'll look at mid-week prices and maybe cash in some miles. I travel to Thailand and Asia for business all the time, but I don't book or pay for the ticket. I was just kind of surprised that the price difference on United was only about $100 between round-trip and one-way. No big deal. Only doing the one-way ticket this one time.

Just remember if you end up doing a round trip to cancel the return flights once they are in America. Good luck.
