My wife and I are married and we live in Colombia. I am a US Citizen and we have been married for 2 years. My friend has a beautiful first class restaurant and is willing to hire my wife. His restaurant is in California. He will help with a green card by filing the I-140 form for her, training her and providing a job for her. Our ultimate goal is for her to fly for the airlines. She speaks and writes English, Spanish, French and Portuguese and is under 30 years old. She would make a perfect flight attendant. That is her job goal. My friends restaurant job would be just a skipping stone for her to have a green card and then after working for him for 6 months to a year, she would be applying for an airline job which she would surely be hired for. Is this process possible and would it work? He will train her in the restaurant business as she has little experience but she is smart enough to learn anything.. Will she pass the interview at the Embassy with little restaurant experience? Thanks for you reply. I know all of the other ways to enter the US with my wife. I do not have the income to qualify for her sponser is the reason we are not going the other direction. :D

Unless she has exceptional, documented skills an employment visa is not likely. Certainly not for a restaurant.

Petition for a spouse visa so that she has a green card. Then she is eligible to work for anyone.

Check the Bogota embassy website to learn applying to the embassy directly for the spousal visa.

Also read through the guides here on VJ. You, the USC, will have to establish a US domicile and provide an affidavit of support. http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

Doubt this will pass - long time (years) for the I-140 to be approved and for her to get green card that way.

Ever heard of a joint-sponsor for family based petition? Your successful friend can certainly be one and once you're all back in the States she can work for him...

Yeah agree with Anh she can't work in the US unless she has a degree or is sponsored in a certain field of work by a company. You are her husband and would have to petition a spousal visa for her. You are planning on coming back to Cal with her? If so then you will as Anh said find a place for domicile.
