There was a similiar problem here in Maryland with needing workers to pick crabs, so they passed a law to issue H-2B visa to allow people to come here to do the job. They could do the same to pick potatos.

The Save our Small and Seasonal Businesses Act of 2006 provides overdue help to employers by exempting H-2B workers who have been employed in the previous three years from the 66,000 visa cap. These temporary, documented workers offer a labor supply where it is not readily available.

Interesting. I wonder how that compares with the legislation that is talk about bringing farmwokers in.

I'll have to look that up. I am interested in seeing how it copmpares with the "Bracero' program of 40/50s.

Mmmm that would be good. But don't have any lentils to make. I am going to make something else spicy though---Kenyan Chicken...but without real chicken. I use the soy chicken from morning star for it. Not too bad, but it could never replace real chicken.

Kenyan chicken is onions, garlic, crushed tomatoes, coconut milk, and crushed red paper flakes, all stewed together and then you add the chicken pieces. I usually add adobo to it too. Rice on the side. *salivating* It's one of our favorite meals. And I have to say, I am a pretty good cook. B)
