I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND MET WITH A LEGAL LAWYER REGARDING THE CASE TO CHANGE MY FOREIGN WIFES STATUS AND GET HER EMPOYMENT CARD AND EVENTUALLY GREEN CARD. THE LAWYER SAID IT WOULD COST $1500 FOR HIS SERVICES AND ABOUT ANOTHER $1000 TO FILE ALL PAPERS. ADDING UP TO ABOUT $2500 WHICH WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY IN FULL BEFORE THE PAPERWORK WOULD BE FILED. IS THIS THE USUAL PROCESS AND FEE?

WE ALSO CHECKED INTO THIS COMPANY CALLED IMMIGRATION AND CITIZEN SERVICES WHICH ALSO SAID THEIR FEES ARE $1500 AND THAT FEES FOR PAPERS WOULD BE ABOUT $1000 TO FILE WHICH IS THE SAME AS THE OTHER LAWYER. ONLY DIFFERENCE IS WE CAN PAY IN MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS OF ABOUT $300 WHICH MAKES IT MUCH EASIER AS WE HAVE JUST MOVED AND FINANCES ARE TIGHT. MY MAIN QUESTION IS HAS ANYONE EVER USED OR HEARD OF THIS COMPANY AND ARE THEY LEGIT? wE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MEET UP IN PERSON WITH THE LAWYER FROM THIS COMPANY AS THEY ARE BASED IN NEVADA AND WONDER IF THIS WOULD CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS. HAS ANYONE EVER CONSULTED WITH LAWYERS OVER EMAIL ONLY AND HAS DID THEIR PAPER WORK TAKE THE SAME TIME.

THEIR WEBSITE IS http://www.advancedimmigration.com/

I WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR ANY HELP AT ALL!!!

THANKS

You should be able to do this your self. What is your status? Is she here on K3 Visa or on CR-1?

If so Look at the guides about Adjustment of Status.

Can you give us more detail about your immigration situation, we can better answer your question, your profile has nothing to help us in this regard.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

YuAndDan,

I recommend that you ask about the detail of a person's situation before, rather than after, issuing the statement "You should be able to do this your self."

She's here on the VWP (unless she's left since stephenk's initial posts), she was approaching 180 days of overstay, and who knows what else.

Yodrak and everyone

thanks for your post. The situation is still the same about the VWP and overtaying the 180 days. As i was advised i did contact a lawyer to see exactly what to do. He said being 180days over stay would not cause a problem. This lawyer that we met however need the money up front which is impossible for su right now. Have you ever heard of the website i pasted previously??

Thanks

Stephen

stephenk,

For immigration purposes it is not necessary to use a lawyer who is local to you. Closeness may be convenient for communication, which is important, but it is often preferable to use an attorney whose experience or specialty matches the needs of the case no matter where the attorney is located. (One immigration attorney I use is 10,000 km and 12 time zones away, but her expertise matches some of my needs.)

Check out any lawyer you are considering carefully, not just by asking around VJ. I have no knowledge of the company you ask about.
