Hey All,

Not sure what my best plan of action is... Our interview date is set for Aug. 23 and we were completely prepared and ready to go. However on my most recent visit to celebrate our anniversary in Colombia, I had given my wife all of the photocopies/documents related to the interview for safe keeping. Ironically, upon arriving to the Bogota airport after a lovely 2 week vacation, my wife's purse which contained EVERYTHING including her government id, passport, photos, medical history, all of our money, and of course all our visa paperwork was lost and or stolen.

My wife filed reports with the airline, local police and airport security, as well as ordered a replacement government id and passport. we also went back to the airport everyday for a week to see if by some miracle a good samaritan might have turned it in. The Embassy has all of our original documents which is somewhat of a relief, but I carelessly did not make sufficient copies of everything and certain documents that were in my wife's purse were the only copy available. Any suggestions on how to go about getting new photocopies to present to the embassy for out upcoming interview?

Thanks,

Chad R.

that sucks man... i'm sorry about that. well, make sure she gets her migratory record from DAS and you should get an original copy of your birth certificate and your wife's if you hadn't already given one to the NVC. they are going to request original photocopies for the marriage certificate, birth certificates for both of you and baptismal certificate for your wife. she has to get a new passport ASAP. Get the medical exams and the vaccines (go to the Cruz Roja for the vaccines), get the pics, Tell her to get a CONTRASEÑA and the passport that'll make up for the stolen ID and print extra proof of your relationship such as pictures (wedding if possible), e-mails, if you ever sent her money show the receipts, phone records, etc . About the visa paperwork. I'm guessing you sent all the documents that the NVC requires. they won't be asking for that again unless, you send ordinary copies. If you were applying for a Fiance visa that would been a real disaster but you are a CR-1 visa which means that you already sent most of the documents. That's all i can think, i hope everything goes ok. God Bless you
