Sponsor questions

Here are my questions (sorry if they're obvious, I'm probably being dumb here):

1) I don't really understand the guidelines, who is included in household size?

2) Can the sponsor be currently unemployed? What if he meets the poverty guideline in previous jobs?

3) What if the sponsor is moving, but doesn't have the new address yet?

4) How long does it take to request the tax documents?

Ugh, for me this is the worst bit so far.

Thanks for your help!

who all does the sponser support? ie kids, spouse? who do they claim on their taxes? if they dont support anyone other then themselves then they just include themselves and the intending immigrant, so thats two people they need to make the min income for. If its your spouse/fiance sponser that you are speaking about, and they currently do not meet the income requirements, then yall need to find a co sponser that does meet the min income requirments on his or her own! plus anyone who they may support in their own household. Like for example, i live with my mother, brother and sister, i have two small kids, but i only support myself and the kids so i would only count them as my household..you see? But i do not meet the min income requirments on my own for myself, two kids and the intending immigrant so my father is co sponsering, because he makes enough for himself and my husband. As far as moving, change the address when the move happens. back to the sponsering, your spouse still has to be the main sponser so they as well have to do an affidavit of support even if they are not working or make enough. but you will need a cosponserCall (800) 829-1040 - it is free and get 2010, 2009 & 2008 Tax Transcripts and will get those in 5 days...

yes the sponsor can be unemployed, you will just need another sponsor also. Nope, the income must be CURRENT and provable (i.e wage slips) . If the sponsor moves simply updates the NVC with the new address, or wait to send the paperwork until they have moved and u have the confirmed address.

Tax transcripts can take anything from 5 days to a few weeks, but they usually arrive within 10 days time :) Or you can send in a copy of the full tax return plus any 1040's or W'2's. You can send in either only the most recent years or the previous 3, we only sent in one and it was accepted no problems :)

Take some time to read through the I-864 affidavit of support instructions and the form itself. It will take you through the household calculation. Understanding the form is critical to success.

Current and continuing income is what is measured. A sponsor can also use assets to make up an income shortfall.
