I am concerned

My Filipino fiance' and I are in our K-1 process. I have been unemployed for over a year now and the economic future in the U.S. doesn't look good. I am told we can use a "sponsor" if necessary to show support for her in the States so the Govt doesn't foot the bill and getting several relatives to sponsor is no problem. My concern is Manila. I have heard they don't allow sponsorship. This certainly concerns me although I hope to find employment before she goes to her interview. Thoughts please?

Please use the search feature on this website regarding co-sponsor (Philippines). This topic I am sure has been asked a hundred times over.

You should be able to pull up some recent threads after searching, which should give you the answer you are looking for.

On another note, I have read a couple of times here where the petitioners are recent college graduates, therefore, no current income. Both

used co-sponsors (relatives) and they were approved.

Good luck!

Have you thought of moving?

Jeff,

Hi, I can't give you information from personal experience but would like to second the wisdom of Dindo and Patty's advice of using the search feature. Also, consider posting your query in the Philippines Regional forum.

To help get you started on the first idea (search function), look to upper right hand corner of page and lick on "Advanced Search." Enter search terms (you can narrow focus by selecting appropriate forums further down the search page). As an example for you, I went to Advanced Search page, entered the key terms "Manila" "sponsor" (without the quotes) and selected the Philippines forum. Many possible threads came up, a few of which are as follows:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/315079-co-sponsor

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/297174-k-1-yuanddanjimvaphuongpushbrk-income-i-dont-think-ill-be-safe-i-know-it

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/314722-do-the-philippine-consulates-accept-co-sponsor-now

In the above threads, you will start to find some ideas addressing your topic. In a similar way, you can search other forums or try other key words which you think might help.

I have used the search feature extensively and although sometimes the time to go through threads with potential information takes awhile, the payback usually ends up being quite good.

Sorry I am uanable to directly address your question but hopefully the suggestion to use the search feature will help you find others will more knowledge and experience in this area.

Congratulations to you and your fiance for starting the K-1 process and a sincere wish to you both for continuing good luck on your own visa journey!!!
