Our IV fee is not yet payable on the portal, but the status has now changed to "NOT PAID". We have not gotten the email about the IV bill from NVC, but does this mean it will be payable soon?

Hope we get to spend some money tomorrow morning!

hey Saylin: any tips on how to get NVC to find a lost military record? I KNOW it's there. They should even have the photocopy in the photocopy packet. I'm thinking about calling Congressional Rep today, but I jsut don't know how long it usually takes fro them to find "lost" things. No way I want to wait the prescribed 15 biz days. You can try emailing 'Supervisor Sue' and explaining your situation. Just send an email to NVCinquiry@state.gov, with the subject line as Attn: PI Supervisor Sue. You should probably include your case number at the end. Then explain your situation in the body of the email. Don't forget to include both petitioner and beneficiary's full names, dates of birth, and email addresses, as well as the case number again. Hopefully she can help. If not, you can try calling NVC and requesting to speak with a supervisor. Then explain the situation to them and they might try to help as well.

And you can also try the congressional rep idea, but I don't know anything about them, so I can't provide any insight with that. But doing everything at this point is worth it.

Just a question, did you write the case number on the top right corner of the military record? It'd be a lot easier to locate if you did.

Yes - I wrote case number on URH-corner of every page sent. Cover letter was VERY clear. Military cert was last page. All the photocopies were paper-clipped together separately, so they should have that version too.

I will send email to Supr.Sue, and I will add something to the effect of: "if military certificate document is located before this email arrives, and the case is closed at NVC, do NOT re-open the case." It seems to take 7 days for them to open emails... I want their error taken care of ASAP (of course).

They won't tell me if the actual piece of paper is missing; if so, why was this not mentioned during Aug 15th review of ds-230? If it is a case of them not knowing how to read husband's name, then that is an entirely different issue. "Give us 15 business days, ma'am" is all they say. Evidently is takes them minutes to send case file back to records room, but weeks to find it again.

If you gave both email addresses to the operator, then you'll both get an email from NVC with what I call the initial information package, that includes your case number. A faster way of finding out your case number though is by calling NVC. The email usually only gets sent out a few days after a case number has been assigned.

The NVC case number is usually obtained by calling an operator and they will give it to you verbally. Also, the case number will be emailed to any email address on record at the NVC.

i just done calling nvc,and the guy i talk w/ told me they just putting our case to their system just now..so i was thinking how long it takes after they put in their system our case to get case no. some one told me after a month i was so shocked cuz no one i saw in time line here who got case no after 2 months from their noa2..

I was the one that said it was ONE month from NOA2 to getting the case number. Since you got your NOA2 on August 12th, you should be getting your case number any day now. Just keep calling NVC every single day. If the operator you spoke with really was telling the truth and they're inputting the case, you should get it this week. Good luck.
