NVC's new trick - AOS status "IN PROCESS"

I have read on this site that some people have gotten their case number from NVC in less then 2 weeks. I received my letter on July 20th about the approval of the petition and still haven't received anything from the NVC office. But, every time I called the NVC automated service, it tells me there is no record of my receipt number. Should I be worried???

Nope - of late it has been 30 days on average. A few June approvals are still waiting for their case numbers.

Thank you! Patiently waiting, :) :)

I got my NOA2 approval June 24th and I have yet to receive my NVC case number. Your in for a wait. If they do not have it in a month or so, start panicking.

How long did you wait until your petition was approved, please??

At USCIS? 77 days.

Today is day 117 of the Immigration Process for me since I mailed the I-130 off to the Chicago Lockbox.

I have been waiting for 38 days as of today after NOA2 approval to get my NVC case number... I called about 15 min ago. I did not get it tonight either.

Are they by any chance looking at the prioroty dates and not the approved dates while disposing the large number of approved cases! Because it doesn't make sense any more.

That had occurred to me at one point.. I looked at your timeline since we are almost identical form NOA2 to NVC but you submitted yours 3 weeks after mine to the USCIS.

Very true. The next step - meaning interview date will totally change the complextion of our cases depending on how good or bad the situation at our respective consulates. Of course how well we submitted our packets. All the best to you.

I wonder if these delays have anything to do with employees taking vacations? Just interesting how it is occurring during the summer months. May be coincidence, but I'm thinking the government officials are taking advantage of the weather and their paid vacations.

I just checked the NVC payment portal and IV fee showed PAID! Barcode printed as well!

Waiting for hubby to Fedex his NBI clearance to me (which he applied on July 1st and just so happen, he received today).

More than likely, I'll be sending both packets on Monday, August 8th to NVC via Fedex overnight.

NVC has now come up with new trick to ease their work load. While the IV fee status is updated as "PAID" in just one business day, they are keeping the AOS fee status "IN PROCESS" for over a week. Anyone with similar situation!

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I think they are way under staffed, we filed for AOS in March and received then, they did not record until 1 month later, got EAD in less then a month after Biometrics, now tuck in initial review.

Slow across the board. Just wait, i guess they are doing the best they can.

What info did you need from your hubby after you got a letter from the NVC office, if you don't mind me asking you, please??

Well, *this* inspired me to call NVC again.. I was a bit more insistant about the problem.. This time they said 2-4 days and he agreed there was an issue.. He said "I'll have a Supervisor investigate why your account has not updated, why don't you just mail in your documents now?" - He said it very matter-of-factly

"I can do that?"

Yes sir

"Are you sure"

Yes sir - just use the same cover sheet you used for the IV package

"Should I change the CMR to AOS?"

No Sir -- Current Mail Review will work just fine

...and there will be no problems

No Sir, you can mail it in now.

Nice to know they got my IV package anyway :)

AOS bill updated to paid in 2 days. I guess I'm at 5 business days now with the IV bill IN PROCESS. I had this same conversation with an NVC operator and sent in my IV package when I paid the bill. I didn't say anything on VJ because I wasn't sure it would work. Hopefully it will.

Do you get an email when the I-864 is "accepted?" Or is the absence of an RFE the acceptance? What about the DS230, do you get an acceptance or just the appointment email?

Anyway, hopefully the fee payment will update today.

They are still filling up all slots for interviews at the embassies.. If The interviews at the embassies are at 100% capacity then there is no need to add staff at NVC - at least for the purposes of setting up interviews. The big push done by the CSC earlier this year really did not speed up our interview dates much because everyone ahead of us still has to fill one of those embassy spots. A backlog had to exist somewhere..
