While my immigrant visa was pending, last year I went to the US Embassy here in Kingston and applied for a tourist visa. Although my family lives in the US, which I declared, I was still able to demonstrate my intention to not remain in the US permanently and I was approved for a 10-year visa. You can in fact receive a US tourist visa notwithstanding a pending or approved immigrant visa petition, as long as you are able to PROVE that you won't be assuming your immigrant pursuits now, and that you will be leaving the US immediately after your stated visit, be it for your home country or for activities in a third country.

Good luck.

I'll cross my fingers and hold my breath as the October Visa Bulletin comes near. In 4 days (more or less), we shall all know what it brings. If not good, well, there is always the next month. We don't have much of a choice but to wait and see. Good luck to everyone especially the PD's of 2009. :)

I don't know why people are assuming that PD will be 1Jan2009, when NVC is currently working on the September Visa Bulletin and they schedule interview in the 2nd week of the month.

Have you not realized that they don't know how to exercise patience.. ? You are correct The NVC does not schedule appointment at the end of the month... but the 1-2 week. Sept 1-5 was basically a holiday weekend and so the scheduling will continue thru about Sept. 15.

I Wish i had a prediction ... unsure.gif
