Hi I was reading another forum that deals with the I-134 Affidavit of Support, some one said that they had to provide a letter from the bank stating that they have bank account and that its under their name. I don't mind doing this but my question is:

1. Are you required to provide this letter of ownership.

2. If I do provide this letter can I redact(black out) my account balance before submitting it.

Reason i want to redact the account value is 2 reasons, 1. for security reasons and 2. I dont have much in the bank i don't want that to be a topic of discussion for denial of my application. I make over 65k a year so I think that is enough to support my fiance.

The whole purpose for the affidavit of support is to show your financial situation. Redacting the amount makes no sense.

If you qualify based on income then there is no need to to include anything from your bank. Just leave those lines blank.

Are you self employed or do you earn a salary?

I earn a salary income that is verified through a tax transcript that I plan on including. I am just worried that if they see that i only have so few in the bank that its a bad thing...they might past judgement on me and decline the application because I am not saving what I am making but rather spending it.

Providing bank statements is for the purpose of proving assets you list on the I-134. If you make 65k a year, then you have no reason to list assets. You just provide your tax transcript, letter from employer and a few of your most recent pay stubs. No need for bank statements.
