Hi all,

We are very close to the P4/Interview and have questions regarding the medical. When my fiancee goes to the medical will she get all her needed shots/vaccines at this time? or are the vaccines done when she gets to USA?

There are specific ones that need to be done prior to/during the medical. Those that are not done will get a blanket waver by the Dr. for medical reasons (such as a three shot series that needs 2-6 months to complete). Now the theory behind that is that you will need to finish them once you get to the u.s., but most of the time the original medical form is good enough for aos (that is time dependent on when it was done and when it is used for aos). Do you need to finish the shots? Some of the new ones are worthless (like the cervical cancer shot for anyone older than 13) and can pretty much be ignored... but others like hep A and B should be done even if you are already a usc and not doing it is just plain stupid. Anyway... good luck

In case your fiancee is thinking about going to the Guangzhou United Family Clinic for medical, make sure she is aware that although this facility appears cleaner and opens on weekends for convenience, they do not have the proper blood work testing equipment. Their equipment does a quick 30-minute test to generate a preliminary result. If her preliminary result is a false-positive for STD, she will have to give them 2 additional working days to send her blood work out to a third party lab for further testing. Also, this facility does not administer vacinnations, which is fine with us because my fiancee had her shots after her interview at the Health Care Center of Guangzhou International Travel, which also claims to have the proper equipment for blood work and can produce final results in 2 to 3 hours.

I thought I'd mention this because it caused us unnecessary anxiety for 4 days due to a weekend.

Thanks all

Bobby, yes I read your story about the false positive, crazy stress forsure.......My fiancee is going to the clinic in Shanghai to get her medical/shots done. She plans on doing this at least 10 days before the interview :) If we can ever get the P4/Interview date :( slow slow slow

Matt
