Problems with DHL at Moscow US Embassy

We are in the process of obtaining a K2 visa for my wife's daughter.

She is in Russia.

When she went to the US embassy in Moscow for the interview, they accepted her documents even though one form had not been signed.

The consular officer caller her on the phone the next day (she was back home in Siberia) and asked her to have the document sent back to her via DHL, sign it then send it back to the Embassy, which she did.

Even when provided with the tracking number and the name of the person who signed for it, the embassy staff could not locate the document. We sent a second copy, via DHL again a week later.

This time, it appeared that DHL did not deliver to the address we had requested, both times!!!

The Moscow embassy made it clear to have the documents for visa applications delivered to the North gate, but DHL keeps sending everything to the South gate, in spite of the North gate being part of the address.

Eventually, the embassy was able to track down the first letter (over a week later).

We anticipate asking DHL for money back, at least for the second letter.

In the mean time, this delay caused our daughter to miss her flight and of course caused quite a bit of consternation to everybody.

I can only thank the embassy personnel for their persistence and help in resolving that matter.

I am very familiar with this issue as we had to provide some info for my wife's daughter's K-2 also. We were able to deliver it to the North gate ourselves.

When I had some issues sending documents to my wife in Russia via DHL and the package got lost and not delivered for 10 days I complained. I had noticed on their web site they had a guarantee of delivery within 4 or 5 days as I recall. I called them and asked them about this guarantee and they had some one check and a few weeks later I got a check from them for the full amount.
