Hello, I am the American Citizen and my Colombian wife has a 12 yr old daughter, who has never been acknowledged by the Natural Father. The Father's name is not listed on the Birth Certificate. I am told by her and by various Notary's that under Colombian Law he has no rights. We have the interview for the Green Card coming up in 5 weeks. I am concerned that at the Interview it may cause a problem. Does anyone have experience with this type of matter. The Natural Father has not been heard from since the time of the Birth or paid a peso in expenses.

Go with what a local notario says to you! US consulatar officers go with local laws. That would mean that the Natural Father would have no reason to stop the process! Too bad you did not find out the info before your wife showed up in the USA! It would have been better the whole family showing up all at one time.

You won't have a problem at the interview...your problems would have been trying to get the child out of Colombia, but since you've already done that you don't have any worries. You have no need to worry about the issue for your interview...as the U.S.A. does not care about the child's father.
